And what about Rap and RnB?

This sounds like a set up for a Rap vs. Metal war, so I have no more business in here. :p

cant be bothered listing the genres, but heres my favourite bands :)
> the cardigans
>iron maiden
>jimi hendrix
>beach boys
>beatles
>metallica [old stuff like fade to black]

Most of my favorite music doesn't fit into any genre or, if it did, the name would be a full sentence of various terms that I can't be bothered to list.

Gracenote has categorized most of my favorite music in the genre "Jam Bands," but that doesn't really mean anything to me, so I'll second Mechagodzilla on this one.

And so it begins...

Since the original post really covers just a tiny fraction of the music world and really has nothing to do with it's claim of "all genres," I decided to step it up a notch. In no particular order:

Metal: Metallica
Alternative: Modest Mouse
Punk: The Sex Pistols
Rap: Jurassic 5 (my avatar)
RnB: Erykah Badu
Jazz: Dave Brubeck
Blues: Muddy Waters
Jam/Rock: The Grateful Dead
Contemporary Jam/Rock: Phish
Oldies/Rock: The Beatles
Classic Rock: Led Zepplin
Bluegrass: Yonder Mountain String Band
Country: Johnny Cash
Folk: Arlo Guthrie
Reggae: Bob Marley (who else?)
Electronic : The Chemical Brothers
Classical: Bach

Current Favorite Band: The Slip

Israeli trance: Infected Mushroom

Does this really have to be its own seperate genre? Or is it just trance music from a different country?

And Maroon 5

Hey! I went to highschool with their guitarist, James Valentine. I was pretty good friends with his sister.

hmm as far as rock genres(metal, industrial, alternative, punk..)... hmm(use your brains people, metal industrial etc... ARE sub genres of rock, so no argument about this) okay i like fear factory, mudvayne, tool, a perfect circle, some slipknot, offspring, stabbing westward, drain sth, rage against the machine.
classical: mozart, beethoven, greig, tchaikovsky, frederick the great(prussian, one of the enlightened despots, heard something he wrote, it was quite good)

hm okay i'll just say i like most everything EXCEPT country, almost all rap, hiphop, etc... hm yeah

fav band currently is tool though. :)

Most of Israeli trance has a very distinct sound. I have to break this stuff up somehow, or all my music will fall under Electronic > Trance > Psychedelic Trance :cheese:

Metal: Mushroomhead
Death Metal: Meshuggah
Punk: Blink 182
Rock: Godsmack
Rap: DMX, Andre Nickatina
Pop: N.E.R.D.
Rnb: Lica Sto, , Jurassic 5
I listen to much music. :)

Oh, btw, Chinese Rap & rappers are terrible!(Except Ti Mi Shu)
They have all these weird colours and do sad dancing and overall have bad lyrics-and it's freaky
Embarresment to Chinese People.
;(

Punk: Blink 182

No offense Top Secret, you obviously have good taste if you like J5, but I think Blink 182 is one of the worst things to happen to punk music in a long time. I'd actually categorize their music as "Pop" instead of punk. Same as listening to Justin Timberlake in my book.

Yeah blink 182 is pop, they even admit themselves. Its better than most pop though, at least they write their own lyrics.

None taken. :) I don't actually like Blink 182. Just one song of theirs. I don't even like Punk... or Hip Hop... (Except N.E.R.D.) to be honest. :)

i'd agree with the blink 182 thing, but extend it to all of these new modern "Punk" bands... i always classify them as "candy pop punkers."

i also extend that to linkin park(as far as candy pop shit) *vomits in disgust* ...as Chino from the deftones put it on the radio here in denver, in talking about their tour with metallica, mudvayne, and linkin park(and someone else ...who the hell was it... whatever eh) "yeah metallica is like the godfathers of modern metal, you've got some others around us that are speed metal, mudvayne is like this cool science metal thing, and then linkin park... they're kinda like n'sync metal" ... lmfao...

Alt. Trance Metal - Deftones
Jazzy Supercharged Stadium Rawk - Muse
Alt. Pop Fusion Acid Jazz Balls Tits Arse Rock n' ROOOOOOLL - Incubus

Did my best to pin a genre to them :p Those three are my all time favourite bands... I used to love SOAD but they're a little generic now. There's a whole bunch of other bands I get into but none capture my attention like these.

I really like N.E.R.D. as well. Pharell Williams produdes some of the best pop music that has come out in several years. The Neptunes are their production company, they work with about every top artist that you hear on the radio today.

Metal:LOUISE - when SHE learns to play the electic guitar
Death metal: LOUISE - when SHE learns to play the electic guitar and dyes HER hair black
Punk: LOUISE - when SHE shaves HER head

Ska: LOUISE - when SHE shaves HER head starts insulting people
Rap: LOUISE - when SHE Raps
Pop: LOUISE
Rnb: Eternal - with LOUISE

:p

Metal (Power): Sonata Arctica
Metal: Rammstein (It's a hard band to put into a genre)
(Hard) Rock: Godsmack
Ska: Mad Caddies

Hate anything else.
