FOR SERIOUS

I would almost expect one after Episode 3, covering all the things Valve's been up to since RtB.

My brother had some Don Bluth cells. I remember one of them was Fievel mouse. ****ing beautifully drawn and painted, up close where you can see it. It was absolutely perfect. He had it in a really nice frame which really set it off. It was a really, really fine cell.

yes, I can see the interest in fine art.

- but a computer print shouldn't be expensive guys.

Images like this are not just worth the paper they are printed on. Seems a lot of people don't appreciate the amount of blood sweat and tears that go into creating the artwork in the first place that adds a little colour to your life. Just because it's digital, doesn't make it any less hard work to create. Not forgetting artist fees / royalties, print costs, distribution costs and administration fees. Do you really think you are entitled to all this for free?

And a run of 500 is nothing when the fanbase is in the tens of thousands, so your picture is still going to be unique, especially as it is numbered. But most importantly when you're in your 40's / 50's and you find this stuffed in the attic collecting dust, the memories that come flooding back will be worth every penny you paid for it.

ffs buy it for what it is, stick it in a good glass fronted frame and hang it on the wall somewhere out of the sun to be looked at and talked about, and not for how much you think you can sell it for in a few years time.

Western society is so ****ing greedy these days, no wonder we are on the edge of a pit.

Take it easy. I didn't even vote that it was a rip-off, because I never thought it was.

I'm just encouraging people to buy important things - and to really weigh buying decisions. You will feel much better about a purchase when you do that.

Like Raz was buying a hard drive, and after consulting us, he's ending up getting a hard drive that is about twice as fast, and almost twice the size for only $10 more.

I can't tell you how many times I bought something only to regret it or feel ripped off. It can really take the satisfaction out of something. Haven't any of you experienced that?

And life is strange like that, you never know when you might not even have a home or something to put it in.

I mean, consider all the people who were devastated by the recent economy changes.

My grandparents lived through the great depression.

No, it isn't unique. It's numbered. There's a difference.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that the piece wasn't an effort to make. I appreciate the amount of time and skill it takes to craft a nice piece of art. But when I can actually take $100 and get a truly original sketch, or spend $300 on a pencil and a disc containing the .psd color layer, or $500 on a one-of-a-kind cel, that's unique. That's something that doesn't exist except in the single copy that I own. There's no numbered reproduction, no additional print run. That's unique.

A print might have taken a lot of "blood, sweat, and tears" to create, but it's still just that: a print. Which is saying nothing of the quality of the work, or anything in the creation of it, simply that it is a nice piece of art reprinted over and over again, and some of them are signed and given a number, for an additional price.

The Heavy art is a really nice piece, and buy it if you like it, but it's not a rare thing, in my opinion. So if it's worth $100 to you to get a piece of artwork that a bunch of other people have, and you'll enjoy it, knock yourself out. But you shouldn't buy it because of any perceived rarity.

If you are really fan of Valve buy it, and don't wait too long. I wanted to buy Episode Two Citadel Ground zero and guess what, it's sold out... :(

Raising the Bar Two, where are you?
Already in my virtual Valve Store wish list.

The geek in me would love to get this as its a lovely illustration, but right now isn't the time to do it unfortunately. :|

Soz, not aimed directly at you... ;)

The number you buy is unique to you, like car license plates they are yours and yours alone. If you get the option to choose your number, as with a lot of prints, your print is not only unique to you, but extremely rare if the number relates to the subject matter itself, for example print no.17 of an image of City 17. This will increase it's value stupidly.
