I read a book and watched the TV show 'the real bravo two zero'. Apperntly, the bit where he said he and his freinds took out 4 APC's of lik 12 men each, it was just an old man, with a 60year old rifle shooting it in the sky.

If you add up all the kills Mcnab claims to have made in the book, it comes to like 300. Shame he got captured, he could have won the war himself.

Its not COMPLETELY true im sure, but hes been there atleast. I dunno, even if it ISNT true, its the only writer ive read that has made me just want to keep on reading. I find it like a drug sometimes.

i don't idealise anyone, and i think that in itself does say something about me. i'm not into hero worship, and i'm somewhat cynical, but not overly so, i like to think of it as down to earth.

i like the idea of being able to describe myself by telling you who I admire, but i don't idealise anyone in their entirity.

Since when was this a popularity contest? A lack of evidence for his existence is still a lack of evidence for his existence.

It shouldn't be surprising to anybody that, with Christianity so embedded into history, that many people accept him as a historical figure today. Your link doesn't confirm it. It just presents the debate.

Yeah, I expected someone would bring up that arguement, so I edited that reply. What I meant was that only a minority believe that, given all the evidence, jesus doesn't exist. Just take a look at the evidence given in the article.

You are completely ignoring the context of the quote.

He's not being a Nazi or anything of the sort. What he is saying is no different to the modern equivalent of pointing out that the Geneva Convention does not apply to unlawful combatants.

The other quote you cited can be found only on loony fringe websites, and considering the enormous amount of quotes misattributed to Churchill, I wouldn't be surprised if he never said it at all.

I used to be the same. Then I figured having idols gives me more direction. If I adopt the attitudes and strategies of people as inspirational as Donald Trump and Richard Branson, then I'm more likely to end up being like them one day - something I hope to achieve.

You seem to think I haven't read it. I have. Long before you posted it. And there's nothing in it that could be considered substantial. The most famous historian of that era, Josephus, makes little more than a passing reference to him, and even those claims have been subject to the edits of history.

Key quote from your link:

You say "given all the evidence" as if there's mounds of it, but there's precious little. And evidence is not the same as proof.

David Belle, I admire his spirit and way of thinking, aswell as bringing Parkour to life.

Mr T. - It sounds dumb, but I saw a TV show not long ago called "Bring back the A-Team" that guy on channel 4 with the long hair and west country accent managed to meet Mr. T, the guy is a legend, he's full of energy and he's a nice guy, I just admire him alot.

I like some of them, but many of them I dislike.

Many of their core ideas, liberty, democracy and such were tainted by aristocracy. The constitution is written in such a way that only the wealthy white property owners get any say in the government, mostly because the founding fathers were wealthy white landowners. Some of them, like Alexander Hamilton had downright aristocratic views.

However, Benjamin Franklin I admire greatly, and I like about half of Thomas Jefferson's ideas (minus states rights and nullification)
