Does anyone know who did the music for HL2? I really like the techno track that plays during the buggy sequence and the music during the hydra video with the manhacks. THanks :D

I think they're all created by Kelly Bailey Valve's Senior Game Designer for sound and music. But someone else may correct me. I'm not sure.

Side note/opinion:

DooM had the best music ever. :p

anyone remember the Playstation game Hexen? That game had awesome spooky, demonic music. It's awesome for nightgames or halloween

True say again yatta,

it had the best music for a game, without making a comparison between doom3 and Matrix Trilogy,

the second (i think) stalker trialer had really good music.

The one trademark song from Duke Nukem 3D, fills me with nostolgia just like mario, sonic, and other songs.

Hexen was made by the same people who developed DooM, id Software. Probably had the same person making the music, too. ;)

I'm glad we haven't forgotten DooM. :)

Didn't Quake have music by nine inch nails ? that was pretty cool.

:afro:

Was Quake II the game that Trent Raznor of Nine Inch Nails did music for? Was that any good? I've never heard any of it, but I've heard NIN tracks that were really creepy and perfect for a video game. I would imagine the music had to be great in that game.

True. All Doom music was composed by Robert Prince who also did most of the music for early FPS's (ROT, etc) and several movies.

A thread titled "Who does the music for HL2?" got thrown off its rails and exploded killing 300 people this evening in hl2.net.

Scientist think the thread may have also been carying toxic materials, we will follow up on this story later.

i want the songs for Half-life the first, there on the HL cd or something, cause i cant find them within the hl folder...
i REALLY want some of the music from hl1
-where/how can i get?

email gabe at valve and ask him if he knows where you can get it from. Or find the track titles and download them purhaps. Dunno mate :\

Quake 1 had the best (trent reznor)
Doom3 would have been the best (trent reznor) but not anymore.

(the music is on the CD for me, listening to it now) you didnt buy HL?!?! heathen

I can get the songs from the original Half-Life game off of my HL CD if you guys want. (I'm sure I could probably find a way to rip them from that CD :p)

No idea but please don't spell 'comeing' like that please
:cheese:

It makes me think of something I would rather not associate whith computer games.

Well whoever did Half-Life's music did Timesplitters 2 as well. Maybe anyway. Play Timesplitters two oon the 'aztec' level and listen to the music once you get inside the temple. Then listen to track 12 on the hal-life cd. Also, play vice city and go to a quiet place. Get out of your vechile. Run away from it. Then listen to Hl track 1. It's uncanny!

"No idea but please don't spell 'comeing' like that please "

har - you can't spell either!

If you want HL music you can also get it on Steam, you might have to play through HL single player or start typing in

mp3 play media/half-life01.mp3
mp3 play media/half-life02.mp3

at the console to get it to unpack, but it's all there.

Doom3 had Trent Reznor man...he is a frekaing bad ass. But he decided to move on cause Doom was taking way too long to come out becuase that wussy John carmak is busy playing with rocks, that prick

personally I thought he had deliberately spelt it like that and wasn't suggesting he didn't know how to spell it...

it would have been very sweet had Trent done the music for HL2.. but then again, HL2 isn't as dark a game as the quake or doom series was..
but eh.. Trent im sure could pull it off had he got involved in the project.

hey, you forget to mention Outlaws and The Longest Journey, those definitely also count as the best game soundtracks ever!

If you want to the the HL music from your CD just rip all the tracks except the 1st. Yep - you can play it on a stereo. :)

"And all that could have been." It's the only live nin CD I own. I'm sure there are others.
