- who G-Man really is!

Perhaps as in Gunman? The symbol on G-man's briefcase is after all the same symbol as the Gunman Chronicles symbol.
 
i don't think Valvle really know who / what he is yet. Anyway, he really could be anyone. Who knows, maybe he is Gordon from the future, that would explain why he keeps facing you and fixing his tie, he thinks hes looking at a mirror lol

Nothing is bullet proof, but my faith in VALVe is strong enough that I maintain this as fact.

Ok here we go.

1) Alternate end of HL1. Gman kills Gordon.
2) Gman helps gordon through HL1 and HL2. If he was enabiling his own survival, this would be a paradox.
3) We are Gordon Freeman. GMan is not us.

Mark Laidlaw knows better then to hack out something so far fetched while undermining the philosophy of the games in one stroke.

gordon freeman is a theoretical physist, scientist who worked at black mesa.

gordon freeman actually has red hair and green eyes. which gman obviously does not.

gman is the government man as he says at end of hl1 "our Government" and gman is a term coined in usa for government dudes.

gman uses teleportaion in his government business as u see him do in hl1. so the usa government was obvosly using black mesa research in its business. i.e. teleporting agents.

on gmans breifcase he actually has the black mesa symbol , and that is the shit/government business he is dealing with

i think also as we know gman puts freeman into a slow teleport/warp. we know that in hl2 gordon and alyx go in teleport and come back week later and so a slow teleport kleiner discovered. i figured from this that black mesa and usa government knew about this and were using it. that is why gman can "preserve" freeman in the warp.

usa government were using this technology even before black mesa disastered itself.

we will see

Why does no one ever seem to consider this?

What kind of dad would jerk around his son like that? They would obviously be on the same side, and even if it is absolutely necessary that he make Gordon do certain things, a father would atleast clue in his son. Udder crap, almost as bad as when people say it is gordon from the future. Why would anyone talk to themselves like that? And sell themselves to the highest bidder? Just Crap. Now quit bringing it up.

Hi all

First post so you will forgive my newbieness (some of you do seem a little elitest judging from the replies I have read so far).

Just a feeling I had playing the game (and forgive me if someone has mentioned it at some point... I am not going to read the entire forum).

I do feel a little like I am in a Quantum Leap episode which I know some people have already come up with as a theory but I believe it is more as a way of testing humanities resolve should an invasion take place. The G-Man is merely a projection designed to put you into situations which would test your skill, endurance and determination.

So yeah right now I believe that Gordan is in a Holographic chamber and I also believe that whoever is 'testing' you has the invasion of Earth in mind.

I know this is probably not the 'right' answer but its still a lot better than some of the theories I see flying around ;)
 
g-man works for the big USA OF AMERICA GOVERNMENT and he and using freeman will kick serious combine butt back to hell.
 
Something I noticed on the box art is that a lot of the facial features of Gordon and the Gman are VERY much the same...even their eye color is exactly the same. Coincidence? :D

Seriously why is this thread still open? There is no way of saying who G-man is until HL3 comes out and even then we may not know for sure. Oh any while we are at it why isn't anyone trying to figure out who Gordon’s baby is? I mean maybe the baby was really Alex! Sigh I'm tired of pointless ideas.
 
My suggestion to you would be not to read then.....if people want to suppose, who are you to say they can't?

his head and ears are similar in shape. but u are wrong about the eyes and hair.

gordon freeman has green eyes and distinctly red hair.

the gman has obvious blue eyes and different colour hair.

i dont think they are the same person

And I have a G-man poster on the wall behind me. His eyes are a creepy green color. If you disagree, do some color correction on your monitor, because that's obviously the only place you've ever seen the G-man.
While I don't think they are the same person, they do look similar.
 
Well, if he is, it kind of makes sense. When you beat the game, the G-man says something along the lines of "I wouldn't want to give you the false illusion of choice", knowing what he is going to do anyway.

Or, you know, they could be totally seperate people.
 
Who gives a headhumpers ass who he is?!?! It's a great game! No matter if the G-Man is Gordon or some brief case toting freak laid-off from an alien defense contractor! Play the game, and enjoy it for what it is! Geeks!

The thread is still open and very much alive because people keep posting in it and complaining it's still open ;)
 
I doubt it means government. Its not even his name, its never mentioned in game at all. Its a name the fans called him...and the OP4 manuel.

He has nout to do with the government.

At the end of hl1, he says "as most of them were government property (weapons = military and marines).....that doesnt imply that he works for the gov
