Halo 2 might sell more copies than Half-life 2 because it is on a console...now you might ask "SO WHAT!?? What's so special about the crappy XBOX l33t Sux0Rs!!?? well....lets think for a second..........ok seconds up. Make no mistake..Half-life 2 will sell LOTS and LOTS of copies but what if people want the game and they don't have a good PC to play it on?? lets see...

New PC: $1000-$4000

Upgrade PC: $300-$800

XBOX: $199

I predict that Halo 2 might sell more copies than Half-life 2 because of how cheap the XBOX is compared to a new PC or even upgrading a PC. Some people might :flame: :flame: flame me :flame: :flame: , but it's reality...less money = more sold...

But I don't like Halo 2 but that's the way I see it.

Not sure about that. We see people all the time with good PCs, but thats because we're on Half-Life 2.net.

who cares?

it doesn't make it a better game.

It doesn't make it a better game, but it still doesn't rule out that it might be a better game even though it is on an xbox.

HL2 will be on xbox too right?

It doesn't matter on if it is a better game or not..it matters on how much people are willing to spend.

HL2 on XBOX might not be out for another year or more..so most people should of bought it for computer...unless there is some people specifically waiting for HL2 on XBOX.

It very well could sell more then HL2( I will buy both), but you're forgetting that numerous amounts of people will buy HL2 for CSS and DOD:S alone.
HL2+css+dods= ass load of money.

Halo2 will also come out on computer.

Instead of making up excuses why Halo 2 will sell more copies.. there is also the chance more people like Halo and is a better game..

Very doubtful that Halo 2 will come out for the PC. Also, everyone who bought Halo will be buying Halo 2, and then everyone who got it for free and then people who just borowed it from a friend(I know a lot).

HL2 will run on PC's that most people already have anyway (unless you only have an xbox and no pc, which would be sad).

And to run HL2 you certainly don't need a $1000 PC, it can be done with a lot less.

My Prediction:

Halo 2 = Way bigger number of sales shortly after release
Half-Life 2 = Bigger number of sales in the long term

Why's it doubtful?

If you can play D3 (which "LOTS" of people did), you will be able to play HL2 twice as smoothly.

I won't be upgrading my 1.6ghz PC to play HL2, it'll run more than fine.

Halo 2 will always make more. More kids etc. Consoles sell more pc games.

Because Bungie has never mentioned porting it and the first port was such a failure I doubt they would try it again. Also, the only reason it was ported was to entice people for Halo 2 and to get you to buy an xbox.

I am absoutely positive that Halo 2 will sell more copies than Half-Life 2. Everyone loves Halo. EVERYONE! You do not have to be into video games to know about Halo. It is The Sims of the console world.

So, not only will Halo 2 beat HL2, I am predicting that it will break all time first week sales.

Halo 2 = Way bigger number of sales shortly after release
Half-Life 2 = Bigger number of sales in the long term
This is true as well, most likely.

You are right that everyone loves Halo, this preppy girl at my work loves Halo and she doesn't even know about Half-life 1/2 or Doom 3.

I can build a PC for 300-400 dollars that will run HL2. Throw in a cheap old monitor for 50 bucks and you have a maximum of $450. PC's aren't nearly as expensive as you're implying.

But would it really be worth playing the game with N64 graphics? Also, 80% of gamers probably have no clue how to even start making a computer.

No doubt Halo 2 will sell more, but I think it might be closer than some think for one reason and one reason alone, and that is mods. Day of Defeat and especially CounterStrike both have pretty strong name recognition and following.

I have another prediction, Halo 2 won't come close to sales of the Sims 2 and San Andreas.

I guess that's why Halo 2 is rated "M."

For kids? WTF, read the books.

i hate to agree, but yes, i think halo2 will sell more than hl2. Personally i don't see the fuss about halo. I tried the demo for the pc(yes i hear the xbox version is better), but it didn't do it for me. Sure, it was "revolutionary" for the xbox, but despite that i felt "meh" when i actually played it. hl2 will last infinitely longer than halo2, but i doubt that's even up for debate.

I wouldn't say "N64 graphics"... over here in the UK for about £200, maybe £300, I spotted a 3 gig Pentium with half a gig of ram and a 9600 Pro. If manufacturers are selling them off for that kind of money, making one would be far simpler. This PC I'm currently using has lasted me around five years (upgrades: £40 ram chip, £80 graphics card) for a grand total of £1500. PC's are more expensive... but at least we don't end up buying the next next generation console to play particular titles; nope, instead we end up paying a similar amount for a graphics card alone :rolling:

I prefer Half-Life 2 over Halo 2 (haven't played either of course, purely based on personal taste) but quite frankly if either game is of high quality they both deserve to sell well. I also agree that Halo 2 will sell better short-term with the next Half-Life reversing the trend, but I think you'll find there're more people who know about Half-Life than you might think.

I wanted to cheer when I heard my 12 year old cousin talking to friends about it... admittedly he's a PS2 owner (and recently a PC gamer, much to his mum's dismay because I introduced him to our favourite biege box).

First time buyers will get Halo 2, but more people have PCs than they do X-Box's; it's just that 60% of the PCs belong to non-gamers, so it'll be interesting... *head pops*

how rich is the world in halo ?? how rich is the world in hl2 ?? it's obvious that halo 2 has nothing

Well, I'd assume that Gordon is payed pretty well, but Master Chief does have the whole unstoppable machine thing going for him, so I'd imagine he makes a fair amount.

(Translation: What the heck are you talking about? Have you played either game?)

The Halo world has multiple novels out.

That's pretty rich compared to HL2.

And the books kick ass, not just some crappy tie-in book either. They really detail and expand on the books and really add a universe to the books which most game stories lack(halo lacked it, but it was still their...just not explained entirley...almost like they planned the books).

Also, alot of people are going to download a free illegal version of HL2. After downloading it, these guys will go on forums and say that all consoles sux0rs and hl2 pwns halo 2 because a pc is better.

Yes, some are going to copy Halo 2, but it won't affect too much the sales compared to HL2.

Do you have any idea of what you're talking about?

Consoles will always sell more then pc games. Doesnt mean they are better. More kids and people who dont really play games much buy it. Doesnt make Halo2 a better game then hl. I was at a Gamestop the other day (friend use to work there) and asked how many preorders Halo2 had. they said over 500. Thats 1 gamestop. I also heard my friend saying 1 other gamestop had 1000. Thats insane.

Ours has about 500 too, there are 2 other gaming stores with in a mile from the gamestop too.

Yeah, it probably will sell more. Halo spreads like the cancer of gaming.

What a silly thing to say :/

The worst that could be leveled at Halo is that its mediocre. Hardly enough to inspire such irrational hatred. We've all heard the complaints a million times, so you can all stop repeating them inanely.
I wouldn't at all be surprised if it sells more either. And I think thats a great thing. The more people who get into gaming because of it the better.
