Less than half of their staff present (yes it was lunchtime).

Only a handful of employees working on bug detail

Steam contributors pointing out they'd be sending the game to people's hard drives a week before the retail ship date

Gabe stating that they only have a few things left to tweak

--and finally--

When I asked Gabe and another employee if they were happy with the game, they replied an exuberant "oh yeah."

Now do these reasons indicate a game that needs to be pushed back? Hell no. Now can I get an amen?

Xtasy0 :

Pointing out that the game will be downloadable via steam one week prior to release, but wont be playable until the 30th.

People working on Steam at Valve told me they'd be sending Half-Life 2 to people's hard drives a week before it is available to play

Spit, can you just say my name?
Then I can claim to know you, and be the most popular guy at Uni :)

I love you man, and I love how you keep suprising us with these little bits off information you keep remembering! Sure Valve didn't hire you for their marketting? It's keeping us all on our toes!

You da man pHATE1982. I have to thank marijuana for my superior short term memory skills.

Wait, like, precaching HL2 on our Systems?

/me dies

They can't do that to me, I'll have to crack the encryption!!! That's just teasing.

Holy crap! Combine! What an advancement in under a week! Congrats...deserved.

lol, you keep releasing these little tidbits that we all find to be rather big details that were left out of your first report...

How could you forget about the week early steam pre-caching stuff??? :cheese:

My theory on all of this is that they made you sign a nice little NDA with a time-table for when you can release your little bits of info. You've become the official Valve representative to the fan community, haven't you!!!

If so, I was wondering if you were looking for a new best friend...

Someone needs to get an invite to spitcodfry's house, take a tour, then report back to the board! That would be bitchin'! Heh. ;)

Ok you're doing things to me that another man shouldn't be able to do to me.

Stop it already

.... Or someone could just visit Valve instead and experience the same stuff he did. Yeah, I think that'd make more sense.

Nah, Spitcodfry touched Gabe! He's as much of a celebrity as anybody who actually works at Valve! Hehe, I even told my girlfriend about "the guy who visited the HL2 developers"! She didn't care, but that's besides the point!

hehe, is this all going to your head yet, Spit?

To be quite honest, I hope you're joking, otherwise this is boardering on pathetic.

Well...earlier today when I was arguing with the fine chaps at Jack and the Box I blurted out "Do you know who you're talking to?" But other than that I think I've been pretty humble

spitcodfry, do you maybe work for valve? Because you do a great job in heating up the HL2 hypemachine with releasing important quotes you "forgot to mention" long time after visiting them ;)

Edit: Damn, pHATE1982 hat the same idea :)

We are joking. Uh, right?

hehe, I sure hope so too! I just find it funny that Spit's got god-like status around here...He's a nice guy and all, but really!

Hehe, on the other hand, I actually did tell my girlfriend about it...but just because she gives me a hard time about coming here and just talking to people about a video game. So when the topic comes up, I go into ultra-fanboy mode just for her and tell her all about what's going on! It bores the crap out of her, which is funny!

Well to be perfectly honest my short term memory sucks because of weed..no joke...that's why I'm sticking with cigarettes for now on...gives me a buzz but doesn't rot my brain. Lethal carcinogens and nicotine hop on board the cancer train! We're goin for a trip to Spit's lungs! Although from a marketing/hype standpoint it seems to be helping...in this capacity at least

And it's a lot cheaper, heh. Weed = teh expensive.

Me too!

She did think it was "cute" though.

:rolling:

And you get searing chest pains and cancer to look forward to! go cigarettes!!

then sit down, relax and think about the whole visit and conversations you had again... maybe there was a "Yes, HL2 will be out 30. September 2003 worldwide. That's 100% for sure, no delay despite all rumours in the net"-quote you forgot :)
