Why I like steam.

Steam is uploaded to your computer.

Perhaps Valve would maybe want to expand their business this way? Oh, & I don't buy my games off of a website.

But can you quote where I compared Xfire & Steam? Apparently not.

A. Steam isn't uploaded to my computer, I downloaded it, I downloaded the HL2 content.

B. You miss a lot of deals if you don't buy of the intranet...I've seen good enough deals that cannot be passed up, your lose.

C. Quote were you compared Xfire and Steam? Were you said Xfire was better than steam. Thats COMPARING which is better.

Why would Valve want you to DL a Blizzard game?

Valve doesnt want Blizzard to make money, Valve wants Valve to make money.

and Steam CAN send files. Thats why they have Content Servers, and thats why you get AUTOMATIC UPDATES, and thats why you can DOWNLOAD GAMES. That sounds like SENDING FILES to me.

People who are afraid to buy things on the internet make me laugh. Im much happier with my downloaded version of HL2 than my store copy of HL1.
I lost my hl1 cdkey, so, I cant play it anymore.
If I lost my HL2 cdkey, it doesnt matter, because its tied to an email address, if I lose that email address or my password, those can always be recovered.

Steam sucks, it's not worth a crap. Xfire is much better than Steam.

thats ... comparing.

Ugh cant stand Steam. If it was an optional extra for multiplayer gaming/updates then it would be a useful piece of software, however I bought HL2 from the shop and was only interested in the single player game. Registering it was a nightmare over 56k dial up, and even with the broadband connection I now have I still find it clunky to use.

Loading up PC games should be as easy as popping a film into the DVD player. Imagine what it would be like if you went to a shop and bought a music CD, then took it home to listen to, but found that you couldnt until you'd logged on to an online network to have the disc validated and unlocked, and then found that the disc had to be tied to your personal CD player under your account and that you couldnt listen to it in your friends car because they weren't authorised to. My response to something like that would be "Stuff this, I'll listen to something else instead" No-one in their right mind would tolerate such a system, so why should PC games be any different?

Its ultimately about choice. The customer should be able to choose whether they want to download HL2 through Steam or run down to the shop and buy it. Those that have a retail copy shouldnt be forced to go online when the game is already physically there in their hands.

what i love about steam is that you can dl your games so if the game disk brakes it don't mean shit!
disks getting brokin has allwese been problems in the past (like with my starcraft)
but with steam i can just dl it!
