Why is the internet awesome?

Man.... What part of the internet are YOU from? Most people avoid those areas... and who knows, maybe thats why the internet is awesome for some people. All based on your point of view.

The internet is cool....We all know it...It is like of those understood things.
I like it cuz its easier to talk to people. I can block the people i dont like on my messager...before caller id i was screwed. I like it cuz its fun. No not for the porn, but for everything else. I can be awake at 2 in the morning, and nothing will be on tv...I turn to the net.
 
Oddly enough, ebaumsworld itself is one of the worst things about the internet.
 
The internet was cool. Back in the days when b3ta was fresh and kid-free. Those were the days :( Damn kids ruin everything.

Anyway, the internet...

It can be good, so many things I've seen over the years on the internet such as art or literature, I would have never have found without it. The Internet also allows us to play multiplayer games, an experience that sometimes cannot be described by words or pictures, I've had many awesome moments playing battlefield 2, you could say that they make up for the countless irritating moments I've had due to idiots or young teenagers.

One thing I cannot bare, is this way of shorthand typing that IM users seemed to have developed, perhaps it is because I know somewhere in my mind, eventually this moronic way of writing will force itself into mainstream writing, I dread the thought of a child reading a book and trying to pronounce "ppl" or "sum1".

Like the internet is shit site says, the net has been stuffed with so much crap, it is literally impossible to sort it or find useful data in the torrent of blogs and spam, sometimes I think that advertising should be banned from the internet, bandwidth usage would probably half.

If there was one thing that was awesome beyond words about the internet, it would be the friends I've made, the forums I use have allowed me to socialise (and now meet, face to face :D) people who I never would have met otherwise, so to finish, If I had to choose between all the shit on the net and my friends... well I shouldn't even have to answer that, anything is worth it for these guys.
 
orly owl is one of the stupidest fads on the internet. How is that funny? I don't see the humor in mispelling words and putting them in front of a picture of an owl...its just annoying.

Stupid websites like rotten.com, ebaumsworld.com and all those others are pure shit. As are "funny" pictures of George Bush and animals saying stuff (especially owls). I can see why they appeal to insecure, not-very-intelligent people.

Not the owls. Those websites of videos of people being tortured and ripped apart and generally suffering. People who enjoy those are insecure.

You have the script kiddie, the 1337 h4x0rz, the elite hackers, the crackers, the black hat hackers, the white hat hackers, the O Rly fans, Chuck Norris, Average people, 14 year old girls that are actually very very old men, grammar police, casual people, hardcore people, pr0n surfers, googlenerds, moderators, programmers, modelers, photoshoppers, Linux people, Windows people, Mac people, people who pretend to be god, feds.
You can meet ANYONE on the internet, and to have the ability to avoid these people, or to literally shut them down from the computing world with the touch of a button.

You can do anything here... its free grounds, well... intill that guy who you pissed of yesterday comes knocking on your day.
