Quake 3 arena hasnt a "story" really, its just DM. But it actually has a story, you can tell.

Its a game, an arena, like in Rome, the Coloceum. They choose persons from allover the universe, only the best warriors gets elected, to fight in the arena, to death. The one left wins.

I noticed that the Halo guy is in Q3:Arena, sence he is a good figther, also, the Doom guy (he almost destroyed hell), and alot of other persons, all from other games, all which has done something great.

In the intro of Q3:A, you see "sarge", this is the guy you play as in Quake2. If you remember in the end of Quake2, you land on a planet, after you killed the leader. In the Intro, Sarge are in a battle shooting his enemys, when hes ammo is out, he jumps into the crowd of enemys, but then the time stops....and he gets teleported, INTO the ARENA, because he is a great worrior, he killed the alien leader.

So in Quake4, after winning the Arena, you get your life back, and teleported back to the battle, with more experiance (my theoriy).

But then again, WHY isnt gordon freeman in Q3:A ? He killed Nihilithat, and put won over the Combines......hes better then the Doom guy i think...so why isnt he elected into the Arena?

Maybe Copy-Right....but i have seen other games have Gordon in it, with the HEV suit (dont remember the game, but a pic was posted)

This has totally re defined the term WTF?!

Actually I know what your saying and its because Gordon has nothing to do with Quake.

What? You have to had played Quake2 and Quake 3 to understand what i mean.

Also, Doom and Halo hasnt anything to do with Quake, but their in.

Its been a long time since I played Quake 2. In fact I think I shall re play it some time.

Gordon isnt it because Valve dont want thier character jumping about an arena like a ponce.

I'm pretty certain no one from other games is in Quake 3
And why do you think Sarge is the guy you play as in Quake 2?

Admittedly, I haven't played the Quake games. But if they do indeed contain licensed characters, then it is probably because (a) back then, Gordon wasn't as much of an icon or (b) Valve wasn't willing to sell Gordon to Quake's development team.

Also, your theory is hereby blown into the water with the following statement.
"That guy from Halo" didn't exist when Q3 was made.

The Doom guy is in because he's an ID character. There is no master chief in Quake3A. Also, in response to your earlier comment, you play as the Grunt in Quake 2.

There are many sarge characters throughout gaming, it doesnt exactly originate in halo

The guy from Halo isn't in it

At least not my version, maybe you have the "Super happy fun warez" copy :)

Gordon has only ever been in the Half-Life series. Half-Life, Opposing Force, Blue Shift and Half-Life 2.

Quake 3 did not contain the guy from Halo as Quake 3 was released before Halo.

Gordon, and the other characters you mentioned, are all the intellectual property of their respective creators, developers and publishers.

hm ok, i might got that Halo thing wrong.

But the DOOM thing is still there, but thats maybe because its also a ID character....so thats the answer, thanks!

i think what hes getting at is the story of quake3 has it that they pick the greatest warriors of all time from everywhere to fight in the arena...i think hes trying to say why haven't they got gordon in there with him being quite the one manned army...

thats the most sense i could make of it anyhow the smelly faucet

I would have thought that was obvious :p

LOL

Why isn't president Bush in, he won the Iraq war!

Sarcasm aside, if you saw the Halo guy, it must have been a custom skin, not official.

Doom is in it, because ID software made both Doom and Quake games.

Halo and Half-Life characters aren't in Quake 3, because apart from being developed AFTER it's release, they are games made by completely different companies.

Your arguement is the same as asking why don't they put the BMW logo on Ford cars.

Can you explain why I didn't find a single convenant in half life 2 :|

....Ok, I'm sorry.

Bush won the war? LOL, do you know that more than 5 soliers die every day still there....its far from over dude

Ok, dont get offtopic now, nvm.

Yeah, I was joking.

Anyway, save it for the politics forum.

Glad you figured everthing out in the end :)

Only ID characters are there. They didin 't corrow others to put in their game. Hal-life and quake 3 are completely different uneverses. What your are saying is the same as "why isn't Illidan from WC3 there".

Guys.... Halo was invented on Mac... I believe, a long time ago.
Halo Combat Evolved was not the first Halo game, just for furture reference

Gordon is not in Quake 3: Arena because he is not made by ID.

ROFL thats not the master cheif, their just peopel who have helmets that look like the master chief, lol thats hilarious....if i remember correct their not wearing shirts in Q3, and since the master chief is shirtless all through halo i see how u could assume it was him. lol ooo this made me laugh

Yeah, I think the last thing he needs is people telling him the same thing over and over again. :p

What kind of crack are you on? Halo: combat evolved was the first Halo game. Bungie made a couple shooters prior to this: Marathon 1 and 2. While Bungle used to develop with Macs in mind, they did joint releases on both mac and PC.

Right, I will end this pointless debate now:

Quake 3 Arena only contains existing id Software characters and some new ones they have created just for it - capische?

They did not borrow from anywhere else, certainly not Halo or WC3 or HL - capische?

End of discussion.

BTW, the guy from Quake 2 was Bitterman, not Grunt.

/me Google searches for the query ["Quake 2" Bitterman]
Huh. I stand corrected.

I guess I was just going from the sound set of the guy in Q2, thought that the way he sounded reminded me more of Grunt, and I assumed that Bitterman was just another crappy photo-textured developer skin, like Carmack, etc.

Actually you'll find the discussion ended somewhere on page 1 where that was answered, discussion so far has been off topic spam and the odd relevant post.

Hey Ravioli, good to see you at another forum!

As for why Gordon is not in it, I think it's because then Id would be copyrighting off of Valve. But then again, that's probably not why so I'm not sure.

You should remember that HL was released a year before Q3, & Q3 was long in development by then, & I don't think Id would want to be bothered with making characters when they needed to be making maps & tweaking their engine.
