Wierd modding article on Hollywood Reporter

Hi i noticed this link posted over on hl source.

Its a really strange piece of writing, for the first third of the article it seems like the guy is bashing the idea of modding games, then kinda just spins out of control talking about EA selling more games because it doesnt allow extensive game modding, i thought EA were a publisher to be honest.

I think you people are overreacting.

The article is clearly meant as a general introduction to the modding phenomenon, aimed at non-gamers.
Agreed, the author should have refrained from using the term "hackers" because of the negative connotations it has, but I don't think that's quite enough reason to start slinging insults.

i think he uses the term "hacker" on purpose, for the ever going fight against video games because they supposedly cause violence and stupidity, or at least thats what the news tries and tells the general public. "Hacker" is often a phrase looked down uppon people tech savvy people and well most people in general dont like hackers. so hes using the term to make it look bad. alot of un educated people's sub concious will see "hacker" in the article and thinks is a bad thing. and will turn them away from it.
