It was quite some time ago but I remember it being one notch below the absolute hardest difficulty.

ok - but there's a big difference between Heroic and Legendary ;)

Whether you found it hard or not isn't really the point, though. I'm comparing it to pc games (Farcry, CoD, NOLF etc etc) In this respect Halo offers far more challenge.

I would have to agree with you there.

the AI in Legendary is THE most impressive AI I have ever seen. (thats including Farcry and HL)

Riddick also was a nice challenge on HARD, I found Farcry and COD a breeze on their hardests (realistic, and hard)

I always play games at their hardest difficulty, you get the most outta it that way.... Im hoping that Doom3 is satanically difficult (heh)

Wow so much flaming in here, i cant believe how people can flame so much over a game comparison thread :\.
/me votes hl2

I played Halo multi on the X-Box for the first time several weeks ago. Frankly, it was underwhelming. The overall lack of weapon balance is disappointing and how large the maps are for 4 players is disappointing. From what I could tell, the average X-Box Halo player spends more time camping then moving. I hardly call that fun.

As for the single player of Halo, play the library level. It has to be one of the worst single player levels ever designed. Not only is it reptitive and pointless, they forgot about play balancing for that level. Why did people call Halo's single player level so great? I don't know. The outdoor levels were fantastic but I have never seen such reptitive indoor levels in all my years of gaming. Not to mention the cheap scripted sequences when you get a rocket into the face when turning down into a hallway and die. At least give me a chance to defend myself, don't make me play the same thing 3 times so you can extend the gameplay.

As for the PC version, from my understanding they pretty much re-wrote the Halo engine so that it could take advantage of DX 9 capabilities (like shaders and bump mapping). Sure the bump mapping looks pretty on the indoor areas, but that doesn't save it from being uber-reptitive. Multiplayer is fun. They solved the empty maps (easy to find 16 player games) but the weapon balance is still sorely lacking.

Halo 2 doesn't impress me. It looks like it will be a solid game, but has nothing to seperate it from the original Halo. HL2 has its physics and facial animations system to seperate it from HL. Doom 3 has its lighting and shadowing system to seperate it from Doom. Halo has small upgrades, it is more like Halo 1.5 (with a slightly different story :O) than a true sequel.

Like I said before, I will not play Halo 2 if the flood returns. The flood was one of the stupidiest and most annoying enemies ever created.

[edit]: There was a thread about Heroic and Legendary before. The AI routines are the same. The only difference is enemy health and damage done to you.

A few points, if I may.

1. Half-Life 2 will be the greatest game ever made (next to Half-Life, my current favorite game of all time)

2. Halo 2 will be a great game, but will not be better than Half-Life 2.

3. This is a Half-Life 2 forum, so of course most of the people will vote for Half-Life 2. Your question seems a bit silly.

And the sun will crash into the moon causing the end of the world at 12:00 tonight. I don't need evidence because I believe it will happen.

The game isn't out yet, we don't know how great itll be.

Halo was the most overhyped Piece of SHIT game ever made!

That teamxbox thread was mind numbing. Halo 2 will outsell HL2? I seriously doubt it.
It's funny to note how one sided these polls are depending on the forum.. this needs to be posted on a neutral forum. Like PlanetDoom forums me thinks

Lol i didnt read that bit , i dno what they been smoking lol , either that or they need to d/l the HL2 vids,........enuff said

Well, the reasons behind their "will it outsell" were what got me..

"HL2 needs an extremely beefy machine to run!"
It's like.. the lowest minimum specs for any current nextgen game I've seen. 1.2GHz is pretty stinking low

Why do people think Halo is so much more challenging than other games? The only hard part is actually wanting to finish it because it sucks so much.

Controllers handicap console gamers so it's harder don't you see?

lol - these arguments against Halo are hardly convincing.

Infact this thread displays as much fanboy rubbish as the one on the Xbox forum.

It's on a console. Consoles are toys. Toys are for childs.

Ridiculous thread.

uhhh yur saying xbox is just for children? If u've ever played on xbox live, 9 out of 10 people i talk to on it sound to be at least 18.

As for the halo 2 vs halflife 2, i'd say they'll both be equally good but in different ways, just one is for pc while the other is for xbox.

Sales wise, Halo 2 will sell a lot, for sure, but in the long run Half-Life 2 will sell a lot more.

Anyways, our thread is bigger and we have more votes than the other one...

silly people, polls like these are for kids.

for me, out of all the video's I've seen, HL2 still wows me more than Halo 2.

Something to remember: its much more likely for many peoples to have access to a console than a decent computer. Unless a PC game becomes super-popular it is difficult for it to outsell a console title. It would seem that HL2 will likely do this, so its probably not a factor.
