Will HL2 be more or less intensive than css

tryin to work out how much worse it will run on my 9600xt than css does hehe

Anyone?

MUCH more I guess
CS:S had some low textures and the physics are not too good

By the looks of it, HL2 is more shader intensive, and the physics aren't toned down like in CS:S. So it may end up being more intensive.

so my poor 9600xt will suffer hehe

its the bottleneck of my system. I want a 6800. even a 6800 vanilla will run it sweet. tryin to sell my whole pc at a profit to pay for new parts... upgrade cpu from 3000+ to maybe 3200+, gfx to 6800

You sure the physics are tuned down? I think they are the same in Hl2. But I hope not....

Unless you're always palying on 30-man servers, HL2 needs more juice.

In CS:S, when you hit a physics object, you bounce back to avoid more calculations. This doesn't happen in HL2.

Why upgrade from a 3000+ to a 3200? Not that much of difference, just a waste of money IMO =-/

if it were free

:)

as in if i could sell my system at a profit and upgrade cpu/hdd/gfx at no cost - why not!

um that upgrade (minus the card) is amazingly pointless, i could clock it up to that for FREE. Unless your going AMD 64 forget about it, your wasting your money. Just buy a tastey graphics cards

same : hl2 is more beautiful etc but more optimised too ;)

I believe it will be about the same. The engine will not need network, thus having more room for the enviroment and AI calculations, but there are more details.

The bounce-back of physics in CSS is to prevent lag that could enact by you standing on them. You still can react with them. (When you throw a grenade in CSS, and it hits someone - not exploding - it will hurt because of the impact of the throw. then explode.)
