Will Portal 2 run on my computer?

Here are my specs

OS : Windows XP SP3
Processor : Pentium 4 inside
Ram : 1Gb
Card : ATI Radeon HD 5450

I checked with the requirements on steam but I don't always trust em. It said that I could play TF2 on Windows 2000. What a joke.

It doesn't say anywhere that TF2 can run on Windows 2000?

But anyway, you specs match the minimum specs for that game. You will be able to run it, but you may suffer performance problems if you got background apps running

If you don't trust the specs on Steam, then you may want to wait till the game is released and see what the word of the community says about it
