I was wondering if the Source engine will take advantage of the Athlon64 cpu's ? I know the latest Unreal engine will support it, and the gains are huge like 30% !!

Is the Athlon64 faster than a Pentium 4?
Ei: let's say they made an Athlon64 at 2.0 Ghz, what that be better(faster)than a Pentium 4 2.0Ghz?
I thought ATi doesn't officially support Linux? so are the unofficial drivers for these cards any good in games ?Originally posted by wormstrangler
You could always switch to a unix/linux dist.
If winex ran HL2 half decenlty(hehe), you may get some decent frames with 64bit compilation.

We'll have to really wait and see in 2005 or so. That's when the 64-bit OS from Microsoft will come out.(Windows Longhorn,I think).
By then the processors will be affordable for non-professional activities.

Hmm, you know, I heard there would be a 64Bit XP released later this year (for the athlon 64).
