Cheer up OP. :p

I'm gonna get Mirror's Edge and Bunrout Paradise and maybe MGS4

The discs are BluRay. Therefore, we are not chained down by the shackles of communist region codes!

Or something like that.

Fuk yeah for region-free! Wouldn't have gotten any Demon's Souls without it.

Switzerland, pff. Surely they have Beige-Ray discs. Bloody neutrals.

If you insist on getting mirror's edge don't pay more than €15 for it please. It's pretty much a demo. You learn a moveset in the tutorial and there are no new gameplay added elements for the entire game. There is one interesting scene where they hint at a new enemy and type of gameplay but then it's just forgotten and the game ends in the next level on a terrible sequel-hook cliff hanger.

MGS4 is a much better game (if you can endure the cutscenes).

From reading around I would be careful saying "The PS3 is 100% region free". First, because the console itself is not region free. Put in a PS1 or PS2 game and you are locked. I think all PS3 games can be played in other regions (I don't know of any but devs and publishers can lock their disk if they choose so) but there is a region listed on the box which can change things like multiplayer, DLC, and censoring. Some things to consider though:

-If you use an analog cable to connect the PS3 to TV you are locked to PAL or NTSC which is region based. You would have to switch to an HDTV (720p, 1080p) digital signal to be region free here.
-You have to get DLC content from the same region as the game. I don't think DLC goes by the region of your PSN account. Saved games have to be played on a console with the same region they were started.
-Blu-ray movies can be region locked. There are some of those.

New PS3s aren't even compatible with PS2 games anymore are they? I heard they got rid of that or something.

you can't play ps2 games on ps3 unless you have 20/60/80GB ps3. Which they all are discontinued.

This but this only applies for NA.

In the EU only launch 60GB could play PS2 games. Even then that was software emulated.

So the list is:

hardware emulated:
20GB 60GB NA consoles

software emulated:
80GB NA consoles
60GB EU consoles

Fuk yeah for region-free! Wouldn't have gotten any Demon's Souls without it.

I need to try that game but I just know I'm going to be the one guy who finds it too hard :(
