i think that would be a cool idea ;)

a petrol station every now and then in City17 to topup on your fuel, perhaps a carwash as well.

The city is taken over by the combine, and they have striders and flying manatee things. I doubt there would be gas readidly available in gas stations. If there was a gas station, its probably on fire.

No--Well to be honest I suppose it could happen. I doubt it though. Who wants to run out of gas when you are being chased lmao...

Yeah but if thjey included that, theyd have to make Gordon stop every few hours to take a piss, eat, and sleep, too much realism = not a good thing ;)

Ain't language barriers grand.

English: Will you be able to keep weapons in the boot of a car? Is the engine simulated under the bonnet? Can you drive onto the pavement?

American: Will you be able to keep weapons in the trunk of a car? Is the engine simulated under the hood? Can you drive onto the sidewalk?

And don't even get me started on what american's say instead of arse.

Stalker has a food and fatigure system, as does metal gear solid 3. I'm looking forward to seeing how they handle it. I think stalker does have petrol as well that you have to trade for, don't quote me on it.

I'm not trying to turn this into another "hl2 vs" but I thought that might be of interest to some of you.

OFF TOPIC ALERT - sorry

That's bad enough but I believe that an american word for bum starts with an f and rhymes with nanny. Which over this side of the atlantic means something completely different.

It won't run out of petrol... but it may run out of gas!
Its PETROL..................ok? PETROL. Gas is stuff like methane, oxgyen, carbon dioxide. The stuff you put in your car is in liquid form, not GAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111111111111111111111eleven lol

and its colour, not color
and centre, not center
and arse, not butt ass or fanny
motorway, not highway
pavement, not sidewalk
pikey stealing stinking **** face bastards, not iraqis
and you drive on the wrong side of the bloody road!!!!!!1 sort it out

:)

America had a highway long before Britain or the UK or England. So we can call it whatever the hell we want.

And the trunk of a car makes more sense than "boot", because actually used to have trunks strapped onto the back.

And really we hardly basterdized the language, their is almost no difference between them, only a couple changed words and an accent. Otherwise they are the same.

But I do like Petrol more than Gas.

While this thread has gone completly can I just point out how all computer game forums (or fora) are blighted by continued use of the word there instead of they're as an abbreviation for they are. Just a pet hate of mine that's all. Carry on about your business.

I think the Romans put some 'Highways' up here about 1500 years before the founding fathers were born

Tele = T.V. (Television).
Phone = Phone (Telephone)

We do not call the phone a tele.

It's petrolium. Everyone knows that. And it's short for cow, not dog.

The English are so goofy.

The whole world calls a certain sport football and the Americans are the only country to call it soccer and the English think the Americans are in the wrong.

The whole world drives on the right side of the road except the English and the English think the rest of the world is wrong.

But hey, the English are responsible for creating the most illogical langauge in the history of man and in London prance around proud they speak the most proper form of it so it doesn't leave me scratching my head. LOL

You appear to have confused posh southern english people and our royal family (who incidentally are german) with real englishmen and women.

At least we don't have to invent our own sports to be world champions of.......

EDIT:speeling arrors

lol

Culture arguments are fun. Nobody ever mentions, though, that all cultures are flawed, no language is truly efficient or articulate (most are very illogically slapped together in fact), and tradition is the downfall of society. Not to mention that sport is a non-practical pursuit that contributes little to society. It merely feeds on, and further encourages, the inherent violent and competitive instincts we are born with. Oh well.

An interesting, but predictably off-topic thread, which I happily engage in promoting...

No one country or language owns english anymore. It's become the world's lingua franca and arguments about who speaks it correctly are just silly. Broken english is the international language of communication.

That said, we Canadians and even the Aussies call it soccer. And for the record, the word "soccer" itself is of British origin, used to distinguish "association (assoc.) football" from league football (which became rugby).

What I do find funny is that basically only the Yanks and the Brits (oh, and the Burmese) still insist on using the Imperial measures system (in their own quaint varieties) while the rest of the world went metric in the last century.

With you all the way on that lot Logic apart from sport. Football (I'm English) is the nearest thing I have to a real religion. It mkes me happy, it gives me a release on a weekend and I just spectate on account of a useless knee.

We're all flawed but everyone in the world likes to say they are better, their country is better, their console is better, their FPS of choice is better. If people could take a step back and evaluate things properly and from a none biased point i'm sure forums like this one might be a more pleasant place. That being said these boards appear to have developed a sense of humour and understanding over the last week or so apart from all the "OH NO MORE FREE WILL!!" post regarding the payment options.

Us brits are meant to use the metric system, we went metric back in the 60's with everything apart from road signs for some unknown reason. Everyone still clings on to the old stuff though through force of habit.

Agreed.
(oh, and I guess sport does have it's place :) )

Perhaps we should create our own forums somewhere.... a forum utopia... where narrow minded people aren't even allowed to register, and we have decent discussions on everything from games to philosophy to the dead sea scrolls to life on mars. Or maybe I'm getting dillusional in my twisted state of tiredness :cheese:

Yes, you are wrong. You see how American football has nothing to do with feet, don't you?
And you see also that it's a pussy version of Rugby with a few alterations hither and thither.
Get over yourself.
I'm not going to insult Americans as a whole in the same way you took pot-shots at Britain because I'd end up ranting here all day.

Welcome to the HalfLife2.net's Useful Forum FAQ!

Q: Will vehicles run out of petrol?
A: Americans are stupid.

Oh well, I'll admit, I don't mind a bit of off topic stuff at the moment. After all the pricing plan craziness, this is kinda relaxing :D

The question's been asked, the thread's been made. Calling people idiots isn't going to help anything, it just adds fuel to the fire. I'm not advocating pointless threads, but like I said, calling people idiots isn't doing any good. And besides, I'm sure there are some people who don't share your oppinion that the question was stupid.

HAhahahahahahahha. Hilarious.

By the way, Aluminium not Aluminum.

"Al-yoo-min-ee-um" not "Ah-loom-in-um".

Also, Connexion is the British way of spelling "Connection". It's a cooler way because it has an x.

You're wrong, you have to treat these morons like animals: condition them to stop making stupid threads.
