Will your computer handle Lost Coast?

Will it?

It's been discussed. I'm hoping it doesn't. I want it to be the same as HL2.

AMD Athlon64 3500+
Direct3D X800XT PE
Corsair 1GB RAM
MSI K8T Neo2

... yeh, I think my comp can handle it. :)

I think my gfx card will let me down. I've only got a 6800LE. A higher rated 6800 in my system would probably do the business.

I'm really not sure if mine will be able to play it. So the requirements are a 3.2 Ghz processor, a high end graphics and something or other, I'll check later. I've never really looked into computer hardware, so I don't know much.

Anyway, I found out what was inside this big plastic casing sitting next to me (I've never checked before... I know), and I have, it looks like, two 2.8 Ghz (Intel Pentium 4) processors, 504 MBs of RAM (that will recieve a change some time in future), and my graphics card, I have no idea in hell, and I don't care to check because I'll be getting a new one. So two 2.8 ghz processors, (soon to be) one GB of RAM, and some ATI card (suggestions?). What do you think? Should I go for it? Sorry for the unnecessarily long post.

P.S. It helps to know I'm not the only one with a mediocre computer.

well...i hope my 'puter can run the Lost Coast levels even it is just a demo which shows off the new technologies and the power of the Source engine.
somehow i get the feeling i will need to upgrade to play it tho... which probably means i'll be waiting for a while :(

I'm running a 6600, 2.8 Pentium, and 1 gig of ram. I think I'll run it just fine. I can play hl2 all max at around... 50 fps? Not really sure.

Im ready for lost coast..Pixel Shader 3.0 makes me happy! :D

Where do you people get your money? hah...

I'm just hoping for a pretty nice frame rate, even though, I'm running a 9800xt...

It's slightly overclocked and it gets a great frame rate in normal HL2 w/ everything to the highest settings...

RaBiD WeAzEL, you ask people where they get money when you yourself sit with a powerful PC? :p

I'm in the process of going from:
AMD 2800+ Barton OC'd
1.5G PC2700 Corsair XMS
ATI 9800XT (AGP X8)

to

AMD 64 X2 4800 or FX-55
2G PC3200 Dual Channel Corsair (pro or XMS)
7800GTX (PCI-Express)
(+ new MB)

Depends on if I can convince the wife - she's get my 2800+, PC2700, 9800XT out of it in the deal :naughty:

I'm a trying..... don't think my current system can hold up (9800XT) to Lost Coast.

Hulk

dude, how will a 9800 xt not handle it??? :hmph: first post in forever by the way ...

It's designed to run on the high-end X800 series cards, right? So, I'm not optimistic about running it on my 9500 Pro (which already can't get an acceptable framerate in HL2 at the highest settings even w/o any AA or AF). If I can play the Lost Coast it's going to have to be toned down to mid-level HL2 graphics.

Mine meets the minimum specs for the hdr features (A64 3200+, 1 gig 3200, 6800gt) but im not that confident that ill be getting a good framerate with all the eye candy this hdr thing has to offer. Im thinking meh, i can just turn it down a bit.
Btw, think an extra 512 RAM will help at all? (1gb-1.5gb?)

Thing is... I pretty much spent what I had on this computer one year ago...

Now, people keep saying, oh yeah... I'm getting a x850 xt pe, or... I'm getting a 7800gtx and I'm like...

Woah. That cost money...

It will be a bitch to run on a 9800XT. Why? One HDR on low quality will be a pain, then all the massive high end detail.

I have a sapphire x800xl, p4 3.2ghz, 1 gig ram dell dimesion 8300. i think im in the safe zone baby!!!!

i'll probably be able to run it, i think my card has the tech for it, but the rest of my pc is shambolic so it will be more like crawling instead of running

I was playing garrys mod last night and noticed that it has different lighting effects from hl2. Are these effects similar to hdr? they certainly looked the same.

Bloom & HDR are NOT the same thing.

EDIT: My PC will melt if it tries to run LC. Will be buying a new dual SLI pc next month though so it's alllll good.

I'll need more ram to play it. Probably should look into getting a new CPU and motherboard.

I've recently upgraded to an X700 and a gig of ram, so my PC should gobble up the lost coast with ease.

I wouldnt say with ease.

umm i don't know anything about computers but will it run on this.............Intel Pentium D Processor 830 (3.0GHz 800MHz FSB, 2MB cache) .............. 2048MB 533MHz Dual-channel DDR2 SDRAM (4-512MB modules)................FPD1975 19" Viewable BLK LCD Performance Flat Panel Display..............nVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra w/256MB DDR3 Dual DVI & TV-Out...............250GB 7200rpm Serial ATA hard drive w/ 8MB cache......................i was looking for a computer for a long time and my friend put that together for under 2500 and he said it was a good deal so I got it but will it work for lost coast also will it for doom 3? Thanks for any help

I think you already know the answer to that shortbus but your just showing of.

My computer better handle Lost Coast! I built it so it could run it.

AMD 64 San diego 3700
2 Gigs of Corsair CAS 2 latency ram
7800 GTX

I'm sorry but that's just not gonna cut it.

Valve released these new system requirements a couple hours ago.

hehe, I don't know what I'd do if this computer can't run LC. Really, when I was buying the parts, I tried to make it so it could run LC decently, based on what Doug Lombardi said - "2 gigs of Ram, 3 ghz processor (I think this what he said), and the latest gpu from nVidia or ATI"

BTW, OMG that is just beyond awful. I thought I was bad when it came to writing text in Paint using the mouse, but you SixThree, take the cake =D

The Lost Coast will be out later tonight i can feel it in the air, its been 3 weeks now since they said a couple of weeks. If its not then well feck those buggers getting everyones hopes up. Wish there was a bit more info on what to expect, like is it just going to be a 20 minute demo saying " LOOK ATHE PRETTY GRAPHICS" or are we going to see something like an hours play. Just put an end to shit posts like this.
