Willy Wonka teaser up :p

I'm torn about this film.

My gut reaction is that it can never be good because Johnny Depp can never fill Gene Wilder's shoes.

But then I say to myself, "Look at the great films that come out of Tim Burton's direction and Johnny Depp's acting. Edward Scissorhands and Ed Wood are two of my favorite movies of all time."

I just don't know...

BTW: It's not called Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. It is enititled Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. :)

Looks like a bizzare movie, well the book was pretty weird too.
 
It looks like its gonna be brilliant. Love Burtons style and this can't fail to be a good movie.

I told my wife 5 years ago that Johnny Depp would be perfect as Willy Wonka. I hope im right. I want to see this movie. One thing is though they didnt make Depp look quite how i envisioned him.
 
ummm... wtf did they do to johnny depp's face? and i have to agree, he looks like a fricking weirdo pedophile, don;t let him near the children alone!

Just finished watching "Secret Window".

You just know Johnny Depp is going to rock the role, cant wait.
 
they seem to be using some weird colour filter, to make everything larger than life (like in Smallville), only it's making Depp's skin weird and green - does look fun though.

i might watch this movie.. not sure tho.
i am just afraid of seeing a perfectly fine story being ruined somehow.
 
I'm looking forward to this one. Willie Wonka + Tim Burton + Johnny Depp and you just can't go wrong.

tim burton , he made the classic nightmare before christmas what a film :)
 
It's hardly difficult to link Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with pedophilia, but it's not really the point of the film. Whether Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka looks like a pedophile or not hardly makes alot of difference to the film.
I'm definately looking forward to this film, I'm constantly surprised and impressed by Tim Burton, so I think it will be great.

Oh buggery - he looks darker than Gene Wilder's chocolate shoes, but not necessarily better. His subtly sinister but ultimately hilariously eccentricity was great. Not so sure about how Depp is playing him. Granted that's only from the trailer, and he's a fantastic actor but even so...

Holy shit.

The scariest thing is like, the Oompa Loompas. Wach that bit with the guy playing the keyboard, he has massive googly eyes and a leather suit :)-/) on.

Still, Depp looks classic, and Tim Burton is reasonably cool.

Monkey Bone wasn't Tim Burton... and I thought that Sleepy Hollow was pretty good. Heh, I didn't know that was Tim Burton... weird, cuz its not really his "style..."

Anyway, I'm not looking forward to this movie so much because I had thought that it was a sequel before... would be great to see Charlie Wonka all grown up...

Tim Burton is god of film. He did not direct that remake of Planet of the Apes I refuse to believe it and I will deny it until my death.

I believe you got confused with Monkey Bone because the director of that was (off the top of my head) Henry Sellick who "Directed" The nightmare before christmas, with Tim Burton as producer and tyrant making sure it is really still his child, not Henry's.

The news of this film is like a wet dream, you wonder what happend but you know it must of been good.
 
Hmmm a couple of thoughts on this:
Whoever said about A Clockwork Orange, the poster does remind me of it quite a bit.
Really dont like Depps look as Wonka, apparently hes really pale as he never leaves the factory, quite feasible.
Love Tim Burton and Johnny Depp, but im a huge fan of the Gene Wilder version, he just WAS Willy Wonka.
Also, anyone know if there will be any musical parts? "If You Want To View Paradise" was my favourite tune, always humming it. And what im doing, and i suggest to any other Gene Wilder fans, is remember its based on the BOOK on the 1971 film.

Oh and chocolate and candy doesnt have the same feel as before. I dunno, the chocolate industry has been monopolized by Mars.
