Which one? I like the Summer Olympics, although the Winter Olympics will be held in Vancouver, kick ass!
I think the Winter-oriented sports are boring.
The Summer Olympics have a slew of different and awesome sports.
And in 2008, they'll have Olympic Wushu!

Question about the Olympics:
How much are the athletes paid? My dad said they don't get paid that much because the Olympics don't have professional competitors from sports to represent nations.
Is that true?

For me, the Winter Olympics have more to offer. There's more speed and danger involved in the events. Skeleton anyone? It's tailored more for the countries up north, as opposed to those closer to the equator; meaning that countries like Canada fair much better. ;)

I'm not sure about athlete paychecks, but I'm sure it varies from country to country. I know that the US spends quite a lot on their athletes; the Asians are pretty much practising since birth.

In Olympic hockey for example, they do use professional athletes when competing. The NHL players are eligible to represent their respective countries just as anyone else. Although with the lockout, that could mean that the NHL players might loose their chance to play in 2006 over some legal mumbo-jumbo.

I hate the Olympics altogether. Its so boring and takes up too much TV time. A bit like Tennis...or Golf....or Cricket :p

I'm from Norway and the norwegians actually manage to get a bunch of gold medals in the wintergames.

Yeah. I voted for the wintergames.

of course, being from Canada the obvious choice is the Winter Olympics.
i find them much more interesting and generally tend to watch more events as well.
i guess it depends on the country and its climate.. pple adapt to whatever sport is popular in their region.

i like snow a lot, but as far as a competition goes, gimme the summer olympics anyday. more diverse competitions, more interesting to me.

I tried to pick the season with the gayest official events. My choice eventually came down to Water Polo & Badminton for Summer against Curling (basically shuffleboard on ice) for Winter. My final answer was Winter. If Korfball, Netball, and/or Orienteering were official Olympic events (rather than just sports recognized by the IOC) I would have defniately picked Summer.

Com on, of all the multi-skill activities, the biathalon is the greatest! Shooting and skiiing? Curling, speed skating, skeleton are all fun too watch as well.

Maybe that's just my canadian speaking out, but come on! Gymnastics, volleyball and swimming put me to sleep.

Yeah! Biathlon is the greatest :) And Norway rules at it, beaten by France every now and then.
