Heya

Well besides working along on BM:S, I also started my own map for Counterstrike:Source.

I am rebuilding an exsisting building from my own town. I know this usually creates big problems with the proprtions, but I will give it a go nevertheless.

But for real, it is an interesting place.... the world's biggest indoor skiing track :) Because the hall is so huge, I unfortunally cannot include it in the map. But the building and the surrounding area is cool and big enough to make an interesting map out of.

I am currently in the first stage: rough mapping to get all proportions and sizes correct. After that I will open it for beta testing, and after that the custom textures and models will be made to add the finishing touch. It's gonna take me a looong time to make this baby, but I hope to deliver a very playable map.

I started work on the exterior of the building. If I got that right, I can work my way inside and add props.

I have good access to almost the entire building, I used to work there but left after 2 years. I was with it from the days of construction so I know all ins and outs. I still have acces and tons of reference material. I can easily go in and take pics of all the textures I will need :)

Ideas for mapname:
• cs_indoorski
• cs_indoorskiresort
• cs_snowworld

I'd use the last title :)... I like it man... I'll definately try it out when you're done...

PS: blijkbaar nog een Nederlander hier :)

Looks really nice, but can't you cheat the wood detail on the big building with textures instead? Looks like a lot of brushes just for the outside of a unfinished building.

Best of luck, building a map from a real place is a real challenge.

the roofs are to dark for the wood, either get lighter tiles for the roof or darker wood for the walls. and those white pillars lesser in thickness and more lengthy, it looks pretty good though

Add some windows to those buildings and get that big poster on that wall too mountains in the backround would be stelar. Some flagposts mabey?

names might be confused with fy_iceworld and I think there may have even been an fy_snowworld. Considering copyright laws it's probably best not to name it snowworld (an architecture made this building and presumably there's some sort of imitation legislation surrounding this sort of thing).

Think of a way to replace the words "Snow" and "World" but keep the meaning, like "Icerealm" or something.

We don't have mountains in the Netherlands...

Thanks for the comments. Don't worry on the textures... they are all placeholders. I will replace almost every texture with a custom one, just ot get it right.

Thanks for the notes on the use of textures instead of brushes. I am figuring out at the moment which necaserrely has to be brushwork in order to feel realistic. When all the - what I feel is necasserry brushwork - is done, I will check for performance. That is the challenge about this map and I do realise it :p

as for the name of the map, I thought so it would be assosiated with fy_iceworld. maybe cs_indoorsnow or something like that crossed my mind.
