I opened WMP today and it caused my computer to restart. I tried downgrading it and it still does this. Anyone have any idea for fixes?

If you don't have anything to lose, you can try to restore the system to some days before the problem starts happening.

Tried that and it didn't work. I also tried removing and reinstalling it and still no luck.

direct X problem?

try downloading the latest directx

look at the options in WMP. maybe you changed something

run [promt]...

DXDIAG

carefully look over that.

also suggest either windows update or microsoft update (not sure which)

sometimes the site can detect something wrong and recommend a download/solution. (if you allow activeX controls to search your configuration)

Ah, I suspected you might not be using it to watch vids. No idea then...

Speaking of crashes... my monitor keeps blacking out and shutting down, and I can't reboot it back up. When that happens, my fat spins louder as if something is going on. Sometimes when I have sound going, the sound keeps looping as if it is a computer crash.

But I have no BSOD.

Should I reinstall my video drivers?
