Right, so I haven't installed any new codecs, done anything to media player...or anything. But suddenly, when I try to play WMVs, all the colours are weird and I can't see anything in the strange sea of green and pink that my WMV files (and all other WMV files I happen to download) have become. Huh?

If you have an nvidia card, it's the new drivers. Go into driver options, and the colour correction i think, and where there is a drop box with desktop, overlay and all options, select all, and then click apply, should cure the problem. Let me know if this works

Sos mate, but what has any of that got to do with video files, the colour correction only applies when in games, brightness, contrast. Here we have a problem either with the video or he needs divx.

That same thing happened to me, it went away after i reinstalled my codecs. And my card isn't nVidia.

Got DivX already. Re-installing codecs seemed to work, so there you go.
The end. :upstare: Silly me, eh?

Because this is also a problem with the new drivers, i noticed myself when playing any media file, and have since spoken to people with the same problem, and when doing the described above it solves the problem, but thank you for questioning my suggestion. Some people

I had a problem in the past with gfx drivers affecting video playback. I had a nvidia ti4200 and the latest driver (at that time) messed up wmv playback, and then I reverted back to a slightly older version, it fixed it. So although the problem turned out to be divx codecs, it could have easily been gfx drivers.

Wow, have you ever messed around in the driver controls? Something tells me you haven't.
We are referring to video overlay, which affects video files.

maybe u need to download divx...

Also are these films u have just dloaded or have they worked in the past?

I found WMV to be unstable, some of my movies and gametrailers freeze if I do anything to adjust the size of the screen or other insanely simple processes. I'm not entirely sure if its because I have the latest drivers or I don't
