An army is invading, do you

Maybe follow ghandi's way, it's proven much more effective..

There's no pride in fighting, even if it's for your country imo..
I would fight to save my family, but not for 'my country'..

Movies make you think there is...but there isn't ..

I wonder who chose 'stay and fight' and actually do that in reality...

It depends who the enemy was, if Tony Blair invaded Norway and the Norwegians invaded, i would stand by and welcome them in. If some evil country like Nazi Germany from the 40's invaded or something like that, i would stay and fight.

I would rather stay and fight so the people i love could at least have a chance of escaping then run away, leaving everyone and everything icared for to fend for themselves.

Where the Hell am I going to run?! I'm right in the middle! Nothing but my own country for hundreds of miles in every direction! If only for me own survival! Fight! ARRRR!

Most swedes will run, its a fact (just look at WW2) :)

Our army is "designed" to last some weeks/months if we get attacked so we can get help from others. We have the high tech stuff (Gripen, the Visby Corvette, and other radar/stealth tech) but we havent used it and nowadays...we dont have anyone to use it.

So... free trees for the first invading nation :)

Nobody would want to invade Sweden anyway...After all, without Sweden where would we get our meatballs and high quality 'minimalisticaly' efficient furnature from?

I am sure we could live with the English meatball, called a ******, and the old looking, antique English looking furniture

edit: It edited out the word for the English meatball.

I'd probably run.

Take what you can have, rejoice in what you can save, and do not mourn your losses too much

I'd probably run. My life and my familiy's lives are not worth losing for a country. (To me)

It's just not worth losing your loved ones to stay in the place you love.

What if it means you have to stay and fight to ensure that your family and loved ones have enough time to escape. With everyone running and no one standing to fight to slow the enemy advance down, millions are going to end up being slaughtered.

I wouldn't fight for the country, I would worry about the people I care about more. This would mean that I would load up as many guns as I can and have all my friends do the same. Then I would do my best to protect those people.

Oh well then that's different.

But I am still scared... I don't know if I could do much at my young age anyway...

So the question is, if you alone had to die for everyone you love, would you?

If thats the question... Hoo... I can almost say yes for sure... Hmm.

If Swden is invaded I can always flee to Denmark, it's only 50 km away.

I would run like hell. Unless I was in the poetic situation of nowhere left to run and nothing left to lose of course.

If a country is invading mine it must be for a reason, which will probably lead to my death anyways, mind as well stay and fight instead of die running.

Stay and fight to save many others and die or run, let them die and save yourself? That's a philosophical question and it's hardly answerable. Both is possible, while the last option is more likely, more human.

Well, as said above. Sweden isn't big but we're a high-tech country, and so are our military. I remember the good ol' days, back in my birthtown of Boden. It's a city of ~25000 right below the artic circle, and still the town with most military compounds in it. :)

But I'll defend my house here.

IIRC we've got one of the most advanced airforces in the world?

Its not just about your tools, its how you use them :D. I'm sure the Swedish army is very well trained, but when was the last time you were involved in a war? 200 years ago? I bet when your navy encounters a hostile force, you all hang your shileds over the side of the ship and raise a bit stripey sail :p

But ona more serious note, look at other forces which are gaining experience all the time.

Well, it's better than the swiss, they haven't been to war for 400 years

Pffft, we all know that it intimidates the enemy and makes them easier to beat once we get in range with our axes! :p

Nah, but we got a effective fighter(JAS 39 Gripen).. but thats about it.

We would still be kicked in the butt because we havent been into real situations for along long time :)

I would run, like the gingerbread man.

I would wear a conker hat (the spikey case they come in) and run across fields, away from the invading army, until I come to a river. I would not be able to cross it, but a fox nearby would help me.

"Need a hand getting across?" the fox would say.

"Yes please, that would be delightful!" I would reply.

So I would jump on the fox's back and he would paddle across. Then the fox would eat me.

The end.

Well, the SSG special unit was in Kosovo, and killed about 80 persons, the last I heard from my friends there.
But the SSG is the most advanced and secret armygroup in Sweden, they're not the army. :)

But if we ever got in war with the US, we would be ****ed.
Imagine us buying a carrier for the war, then 50 US subs would nuke it.
Then Stockholm would be overrun with 300000 marines.
Again riksgardet.
GG Sweden, nextmap.

I've got a video of the Swedish tankforce training with their modified Leopard 2A6's (best main battle tank in the world) pretty impressive stuff!

Tanks are pretty impressive machines. I was on a traning/show-off when my brother was in the army... damn, those tanks are pretty fast and the ground shakes pretty good when they fire :)

Personally, I think anyone that allows their country to be over-run is shameful. Or maybe thats just me.
But staying and doing what I could just seems right to me.

yes yes becuase I make a joking comment the intellectual curve of this thread goes down.. :upstare:

I would actually love to stay and fight for my country- in my mind i am very patriotic. I would defend my country with my life, fight off the invading hordes and win the day and the girl single handedly.

that is what i would LIKE to do.

but in reality, i would take one look at the enemy, then run away as fast as possible and live in the wilderness. i would probally be eaten by foxes or wolves, or starve- as im too much of a whoose to eat anything that hasnt been sterilised for bugs first. Then if i saw an enemy soldier i would hide and wet my underwear.

no, seriously...

it really annoys me when people say they would do one thing, then when it actually comes to it theyre complete wooses. if they say theyre wooses in the first place thats fine ;)

The best army in the world is the British army :D
We just dont have the funding and our navy (which used to be the best) have been cut back all the time, it's shameful, soon Britain wil have no military power at all... nothing would stop China going for world domination! :p

Team America! But due to lack of funding they abandonded the Team America program...

I'd say, for me, it depends on what country I live in & what country that is doing the invading thing :) There are some countries I could greet with open arms (if they take me with them or whatever) while I'd fight others to their deaths (not mine obviously).

If this country goes DEFCON 1, I'll be cooking popcorn at my house watching it on national television :)
