Well, if you pop on over to the WoW Europe site you can now get a key for the second stage of public beta that'll start very soon :D

Unfortunately, I'm going away in a week and a half, so not only will I have no money for the actual release, I'll miss a load of beta time. Oh well.

Now's the time to get an account and download, baby.
 
Sweet, I'll finally be able to get a chance to see what all the fuss is about :p

Couldn't have come at a worse time though dammit, I've got shitloads of work to be doing over the next few weeks.

It asks for my country... but I don't see Scotland or the UK in the list...

It's unfortunately in French. I went for "Illes Britannique" or something. It's near the bottom, anyway.
 
Can you transfer you character from the beta version into the full game?

Also, when is the european release? - I keep hearing conflicting dates.
 
No, the beta is a much cut down version of the real deal. They're different games, I think.

I think it's Febuary 25th :D

Translator says that means British Virgin Isles, I chose that aswell.

The beta IS THE FULL GAME. It is exactly the same as retail. and to answer your question warbie, no, all characters will be deleted. this is the time that you laugh at dedalus as he has spent 220 hours (as of yesterday) getting a level 42 gnome. I'm level 22, just to let you know...

oh and remember to go on beta server 7 (pvp). We're all alliance, but in retail we're gonna be horde.

Yup me, to, at 2/4 kb per second, it's killing me, so if you know where to download it faster let us know.

And I have another question, can we in the Euro beta play on US servers or not, you know are we limited to only euro servers.

we ARE limited to euro servers, but that's a good thing as so many americans would swamp the servers and lag us. Seriosuly about half of the UK servers are inhabited by sweedish people lol, imagine if US people could get in too :)

oh and i remember you helping me simmo, i really appriciate that :D

oh and the only way to get higher download speeds is to get someone to put it on some discs for you lol :) i downloaded it from bitorrent (took 3 days without turning my internet connection off) and i've now given the same set of discs to 4 of my freinds lol :)

Yes. In fact i don't even think you need to install the game if you have this installed... but they'll probally put up a patch for you to download :)

it IS on a torrent! Blizzard downloader is a modified version of bitorrent. It's just crap, that's all :p

Anyone know if you can use the US retail to play in the UK beta? It would be much easier than downloading it at 10kB/s
 
Does anyone know if WoW is playable on 56k? Downloading isn't a problem because I can get the beta on a disc from Suicide, and I'm getting broadband at some point in the future anyway, but I want to play as soon as I'm able to...

well it ran OK for me when i was using bitorrent and i had 1,000 ping... very laggy, but playable... and i doubt you'll get 1,000 ping :) probally 200- 500 or something.

anyway i'm off to play... :D

*edit* just to say, i had downloaded 2.6 GB when i finished downloading... uploaded 3GB LOL :)
 
But why, why din't they just put it on filefront, why?
Goddam GW owned, it just streamed the game from the net at an incedible fast rate, hardly ever, every waited in that game.
 
The download won't go over 15kb/s with that client. I wish they'd just release a normal torrent so I could just use TorrentStorm which i've configured to get good torrent speeds.

This is going to take over a week to download. I can't leave my comp on overnight, the power bill might go nuts.

I might post on some WoW forum asking if some nice fellow could post a disc for free. Har har.
 
I'm gonna leave this for now - so damn slow! :O

They should of just stuck it on gamershell or even bloody fileplanet.
 
Yeah but why not just give it to damn filefront, they never have lines, and have great speeds.

Im on a lan so im going to get bad speeds, wont be playing for afew days.

nope, there's been about 3 new clients scince then, and a-gillion patches :p Even if it DID work, the patches would amount to 5GB or something... and giess what you'd need to download them with? :p
 
Do you think they will eventually stick it on Fileplanet or something? Or are we totally stuck with this. Hopefully someone will stick it on an unnamed torrent website beginning with L when they finish downloading it.

I thought FP got a client for the US beta.
