Worldwide release?

It will begin downloading before the release if you pre-order it on steam, and will be unlocked at the hour of release. I guess people will be able to play it through steam before anybody else :)

i thought if you just do the 6$ per month subscription you can download all new releases from valve, not just updates....and why would they possibley make you pay for patches.....

I think they could pull off a simultanous realease.A game store here had a midnight opening on the day of the GTA:VC release. What days do new games usually come out in the US? as they come out in Ireland generally on a friday.

Wouldnt mind subscribing to Steam if i could download HL2 a day or two before its release and then start playing it once they unlock it.(If they were to do something like that)

games don't really come out on a specific day in the u.s. they just pretty much come out when ever, is there a reason why games come out on fridays in ireland?

As I said earlier in the thread, the same thing happens in england to, I believe its some law in the EU trading bs blah blah blah, but it seems to effect other europian countries to. Its somthing to do with the way they chart sales I think.

Ahh cool, thanks for clearing that one up.At least we can avoid these laws with Steam now.If only we could avoid VAT along with it :(.I can dream though :)

Expect what usually happens, an ontime US release date, then a europian date on the following friday (always ALWAYS happens) theres some dodgy law in england anyway about releasing games on fridays, although the steam release would be universal obviously.
IVE NOTICED THAT TOO !!!! almost every game ive got for my gamecube, that i got on release day, i got on a friday, including mario sunshine, zelda:wind waker, a few others, the g-cube itself, and even my gba :|

I'm almost certain its to do with charting. Same way that cinema releases are on friday, and music albums/singles come out on Mondays. Guess the EU is obsessed with charting stuff!!

Here in the US we do have a few things like that. 'Almost' every video is released on a Tuesday. And games even, I would venture to say that a great majority of them are released somewhere between Thursday and Saturday. But I think this is more of a marketing strategy than anything.
