Cher? are they out of their minds?

The 62-year-old singer and actress is reported to be in talks to play Catwoman opposite Christian Bale in the third Batman film from British director Christopher Nolan.

The Oscar-winner will join a cast that includes Johnny Depp as The Riddler as she plays the whip-carrying burglar.

there was supposed to be sexual tension between batman and catwoman, who's going to belive that when she's clearly a deacde or three over the hill?

damn if they're going for old harpy I'd rather they went with julie newmar

at least she was hot ...cher was never hot

Misleading thread title. "In talks to play" is not "to play"

Cher as an sexy, acrobatic, agile thief? Ahahaha, No.

I can see her doing a flip then breaking a hip!

**** this utter bullshit. Won't happen. They'll want to follow Dark Knight well not destroy the franchise a la Spiderman 3.

The idea of Johnny Depp as the Riddler though definitely has my support.

What the **** are you smoking, Nolan. The Penguin and Riddler please, not Catwoman and Riddler. And Cher? What the goddamned ****.

The penguin? Shit no, Riddler **** yes, Penguin god no.

on the first page of google images I've already found 2 people that would do it better...

I mean come on...they can totally do better than cher.

I don't mean Burton's ludicrous Penguin - I mean the Penguin with a Nolan makeover. The gentlemen of crime. A quite normal, if somewhat loathsome and brutal mobster pulling political strings and futhering the manhunt for Batman. He'd make a great villain and he would fit perfectly into the Nolan universe.

Yeah, I got that. I still have doubts. Riddler with a Nolan makeover would probably be brilliant (Not to mention played by Depp, if indeed this article isn't full of garbage) but Penguin? I am not excited.

D:

It's unfortunate cos TDK was so good no other superhero movie let alone it's sequel will live up to it but seriously we need more compelling villains than catwoman (but it could work if done right xcellerate's ideas were good). Although Johnny Depp as the riddler I would definitely support that 100%

I'd hate to see Depp as the Riddler. It's such an obvious choice, and thus a bad one!

Putting it that way the penguin sounds great for the next movie.

Wasn't there a rumour that Philip Seymour might play the penguin and portray him as a british arms dealer?

Also I believe David Tennant (the current dr who) also expressed interest in playing the riddler.

Since when the **** was Depp confirmed to be the Riddler at all? When was the Riddler even confirmed as an enemy. That's right, he hasn't, this article is horseshit.

The article forgot to confirm that I am to play the part of Bane.

I liked the Penguin in Batman Returns. That movie was very creepy.

/grammar nazi

Only use 'an' if the next word starts with a vowel or is pronounced like a vowel (such as 'an hour')

Also - Never seen any of the new Batman's, and even I know this is a bad idea.

Actually the Riddler is all but confirmed. On one of the viral websites for TDK a letter is written in the gotham times by Edward Nashton which is an alias for the riddler.

Mr. Reese-Mysteries- The Riddler

What a scoop.

Oh come on guys. Nolan has done nothing to make you think he'd make a decision that poor.

According to wiki:

He has also mentioned that the villain of the upcoming film may be the Riddler.[29] Nolan explained that as long as he is directing, he is not including Robin in the franchise because Bale is portraying a "young Batman".
In addition, Nolan considered the Penguin difficult to portray on film, explaining, "There are certain characters that are easier to mesh with the more real take on Batman we're doing. The Penguin would be tricky."[32]

yea this was definitely the best outfit...I wonder how they're going to do it in this one...

HA! I knew the next would be Riddler. But, IDK about Catwoman...

Psh, f*ck all this, we need Azrael.

putting clayface in the movie would be a better decision than cher as catwoman. depp shouldn't play the riddler, crispin glover should.

btw... philip seymore hoffman as the penguin would be excellent.

no way in hell is this true. there isn't a face palm picture on the internet good enough to represent my feelings for this if it somehow was though.

I think clayface would be too big a step away from the realistic way the new films are taking. Plus, that'd be a lot of cgi, which I really don't want to see.
My friend noticed something interesting, that marvel comics a lot of the time make two characters that have similar gimmicks or however you'd call it. Like the Riddler and the one guy who's name I forget, both leave clues to their crimes. Or Bane and Clayface, both addicted to a drug that makes them stronger, whatever. Other things are less so, but still have similarities, like ra's al ghoul and any of the other magic guys like zappa or whatever the chicks name was, Klarion, and nostromos (though he was just acting). Anyway, what I was saying was, the riddler and the joker in my mind are pretty similar, and I don't want to see too many similar villians in the movies, ya dig? One guy does jokes, one guy does riddles. C'mon.

I'd actually like to see the penguin in the movie, except that he's been done in the older movies. I'm trying to think of other people...

I have a couple partial lists of enemies I could go through, and why each should or should not be in the new movies-

joker- was done, obviously, and in older movies, but he's pretty essential.
harley quinn- of course, I'd love to see her, but I don't think it's going to happen with the current lack of joker. Sure, a replacement could be found, but I don't think many people would be happy with someone else besides ledger playing the joker. Harley could be a minor standalone villian, but her connection to the joker would be too vague. Imo.
posion ivy- she could be interesting, but the plants doing her bidding thing is a bit much, maybe if it focused on her poisons and... stuff.
penguin- yes, I think he'd do swell. I think he's realistic enough to be a good candidate.
2face is dead.
catwoman... maybe, but I also think she's been overdone in the movies, and nolan has said he wants less known villians, I believe.
scarecrow is supposedly taken care of, though he returned in the dark night he might come back in the third, though he's in danger of becoming a running joke.
the mad hatter- you know, maybe another case of batman-created-me would be in order, though the mind control thing he has going on I'm a little iffy on.
killer croc- looks like he's in the game, he may fit into the movie. I think he would, actually. Go for a skin cancer or genetic experiment approach.
the riddler- you know what, I think he'd be fine, and if they stopped tim burton sucking johnny depp's dick long enough to do the third batman, that'd be allright.
the ventriloquist/scarface- may be interesting, but definitely a small time dude.
ra's al ghul was done...
clayface I've given my opinion on
mr. freeze- hmm, he may be good for it, but ah-nuld may have ruined that image for him. If they went for a BTAS approach that'd be great.
bane- was also done already, I think would be a better choice than clayface, though this magical drug that appears out of nowhere may be a little... ungh.
clock king- I dunno, I haven't seen his episode yet, but he may be an interesting choice, his obsessino with time and all would be different.
Lock up- anybody remember him? He'd be pretty good I think, though not particularly dangerous at all. The danger in the third movie should be BIG, though still remain grounded in Gotham, and stay away from anything paranormal. Again, this is just my opinion on it.

yeah, I was using a list of enemies from the animated series. You know, they may even invent a new villian for the third movie, that'd be cool. I don't think anybody ever said they had to stay strictly with previously created characters. The thing is, to create somebody who fits the bill I thought up before (very dangerous, not magical or whatever) would be very difficult, but not as difficult as trying to work with what's already there. Another possible route would be to team up two or three set villians, and is probably the most likely route. Since they've been doing that the last two films.
