Very interesting. I found some, uh, info about the guy and am currently considering sending letters to either his school (from where he possibly sends the emails) or to his ISP. But what's really interesting, he is a member of a certain cracking/piracy group that cracks Valve games. Which is, at the very least, enough to get his Steam account closed. And that might just be interesting for Valve...

We ask you not to blame exe099 because he was most likely chosen randomly, instead of exe099 it could be YOU.

There is NO proof that he was the one who was sending the emails. Gmail will not take any action because the emails were NOT sent form Gmail.

Whoever sent them could make the "reply-to" ANYTHING.

We are investigating the case.



For now we ask you to consider that scam email as a regular failing spam, and so it is.

Funny thing is, this email came from a pureserver.info server.
VALVe's emails only come from valvesoftware.com.

Guys, sorry to trouble you, but I'm from VALVe. It's Gabe.
I'm using this account because a hacker has changed all the log on passwords at VALVe studios (I think it was Dave, the janitor), and I think he's going to change all the passwords of every steam account. There is a solution. If you PM me your username and password, I will note them down, and when we gain re-entry into our offices, I'll change your password back to how it was.

There isn't much time, Dave could lock you out of your account any time now, and if I don't get your password I won't be able to get you back your account!
