I'm not sure if this is spam. If it is someone please delete it. I'm just curious about a few things.

1) If Valve was to release the tech demo as a playable level would you actually play it? I wouldn't, don't want to ruin anything.

2) Do you think Valve should stay silent on Half-Life 2 like they have been so far. I mean do you think they should release the normal tidal wave of screenshots and information we normally get at the release of a game, or should they keep everything a secret like they have been? I hope they release nothing to us except for the release date (soon I hope!).

I'm just curious as to what everyone here would do.

i'm hoping they keep quiet the way they have WITH and ONLY with screenies and vid, i really wish there was a firm release date that emmm wouldn't change? especially 6 days before it arrived:dozey:

Well.. a short playable demo would be nice... something to test my new hardware out with... and test the engine out a bit..

The tech demo? Yeah, probably. There's not a whole lot in the tech demo, just a lot of cool effects.

As for Valve's silence... Yeah, I think they should stay silent about the story at least. I don't want the game's storyline ruined AT ALL. I have no clue what to expect with the story, and I want it to be a surprise as I play. I think the emotions of the NPCs in the game will add a lot of interesting elements (like attachment to the characters, as Valve thinks will happen) while enhancing the storyline instead of deterring from it. I think the biggest reason HL2 is so hyped by the fans is because we know absolutely nothing about the game, and that's pretty exciting, considering a lot of games release half the story before you even play it.

I think the E3 tech demo (with the pool and pachinko machine) would be great. Maybe the ability to spawn some combines with MP7s, and start with the crowbar, USP Match, and manipulator. Hell yes.

1. I would play it. I would love to play a Half-Life 2 demo. Anything Half-Life 2 I can get my hands on, the better.


2. We have been / are waiting a very long time for the release of Half-Life 2. Therefore I think it would be a good idea for them to give us the tidal wave of stuff that you have mentioned.

There is just so much waiting that a person can take. We have suffered (waited) enough.
