WoW hits 10 million subs...

1 in 3 people probably have mule accounts. 1 in three of those people probably have triple accounts. It's so common place in many mmorpgs.

10,000,000 x 9 (pounds) x 12 = 1,080,000,000

Unbelievable..

 I love that scene so much

Anyway I can't say I am surprised that WOW got this far considering it's virtual crack cocaine.

Multiple accounts, sure, but there's really no need for an entire account to use as a mule - as your able to make plenty of characters on the same realm to store things anyways.

Gold farming plants and people who have made botting into a personal business, sure. I also know quite a few people who hold multiple accounts to "double box" and play with both chars at once.. totally pointless imo but what can I say...

I got bored of WoW a while ago, and stopped. I'd reached the point where the only things left in the game were grinds. At least levelling and playing through the instances a few times was fun, but it gets olllllld.

It's the next big religion you know.

...

"A wafer thin mint?"

After Dinner Mint is a running joke in my family.

not when you can transfer characters. It would cost people less to transfer than pay the month for the other account. My guess is the majorty of those 10,000,000 are simply casual players who play every now and then.

Gold farmers.

Their probably counting folk who have accounts but don't play anymore.

That and its crack cocaine.

Its like some inexplicable anomaly.

Most games its completely arguable that games are not addictive, by all definitions, but WoW is like strange matter, completely inexplicable.

I know plenty of people who have started up new accounts on different servers but still hold onto their main ones. They intend to play on both.

I always wondered - are these current paying subs, or just the amount of people that have ever at one time had an active account?

I bet blizzard is going to found a new nations, where you are paid for your work in pizza, soda and wow months.

I wish I knew too.

The WoW forums usually get into a spat whenever these kinds of milestone updates are reported. I've heard that the number of subscriptions/accounts is actually decreasing.

I just wish I knew which asshole everybody was pulling their facts from.

that didn't make sense at all, world of warcraft is gay and should be burned in a furnace
