Got a birthday coming up, and the little miss´s, asked me what i present i wanted...."baby do u want EQ2 for ur birthday?"

Now this is somn special, because i played EQ1 for some time, but it was to time consuming to play, with a wife and 2 kids (the constant turning in bed upstairs and coughing, the occasional "baby u done yet?") . But now it looks like i´ve been granted permission for the almighty long haired to play a good ammount.

What is less time consuming lvl wise WoW or EQ2?

I don't know much about EQ2, but WoW is AWESOME.

And it's pretty easy to level. I got to level 35 with my rogue (my second character though) and I haven't even played that much. You can get to level 20 in like a day if you work at it.

sounds a little fast, but almost in the range i was thinking about, thx m8.

Haven't played EQ2 - but am enjoying WoW a great deal. It's my first mmorp, and experiencing it with friends makes the monthly fee seem so tiny.

i agree the monthly fee is well spend, to keep the unserious, dupers, hackers and what not from the game.
I played Ultima online in the beginning (loads of fun), then EQ1 (totaly cool), but man these games are time consuming, impossible to maintain a family will playing. But the lvl time on WoW looks like it could be played 2-3 time a week at a 5 hour go each time, to maintain a family also.

im coming on the 15 :)

A couple of guys at the game software store were saying that WoW was the best, and that EQ2 sucks. they said EQ2 takes forever to level up, and its not as good. also I believe they said that WoW has better graphics.

Im a fan of EQ but haven't played EQ2.

From my experience EQ takes for-freaking-ever to level up once you get into double digit levels .. especially past ~28, and level 40-60 is just a lame repetative tedious chore that only the life-less could achive.

I'm tired of paying for monthly fees.

seems like most of the hardcore gamers on this forum really love WoW, and it looks great on the box.

I may get it , but first I'm going to try Guild Wars since it has no monthly fee...............

I've played both, and I like them both. If you want something that's fast and easy to understand, the go with WoW. If you want something that will last for a long time and feel like more of a challenge, then go with eq2. Both games are quite fun, and with all the new content that they'll be adding to each game, there's no reason that you'd ever get bored.

WoW is very fast, instant gratification with trade-skills, great action, a lot of items (I mean a lot), and all make changes to your character's appearance (that is a big deal to me actually).

WoW is an everyman's game, I haven't shown it to one person yet who hasn't loved it instantly. (and a lot of em don't play mmos or even rpgs)

a couple friends who got EQ2 were very put off by it, hell 4 people in my guild bought EQ2 first because they were long time EQ players, and they despised it.

I whole-heartedly recommend you get WoW, you will not be dissapointed I guarantee :)

the thing that turned me off of WoW initially was the GFX, Im not a fan of the cartoony style... but the gameplay is just so much fun... It's the first MMO that does not PUNISH you for playing it.
The graphics are done very well for what they are however.

@Virustype2:

if you are going to try guildwars, make sure you just try one of their weekly betas.
I found the game rather weak, graphically lacking (although they do release some nice screenshots, in motion it looks horrible because of the abhorent animations) crappy customization, putting on different armor sets doesnt do much (its like a chestpiece in D2, it changes your whole appearance, unlike WoW, in which you put on gloves, your gloves change etc)
the sound was exceptionally bad.... or should I say lack thereof?

in any case, just try the betas to get a taste of the gameplay... because "you get what you pay for" :)

@RRunner:

the game was built with the casual gamer in mind, if you can't afford to waste days on WoW during the week they have a "Rest" system in place.

with this rest system, when you logout, the longer you are not online, the more REST you attain. what rest does is, gives you double the amount of XP from any creatures you kill, thus allowing you to catch up and level a bit faster than you otherwise would have.
I believe if you leave a character logged out for 1-2 weeks you will attain 1 and a 1/2 full levels in rest (everything you kill for a level and a half will yield double xp)

btw I come from Ultima Online too, I was in the early betas when taking off your clothes got you killed by the guards, and we had guard flooding (5000 guards onscreen hehe), when PKing was fun, thieves weren't useless and the world was run by players.

in other words before EA neutered it.
I can honestly say, if you could stand UO... this is the game for you. I was blown away when I played this MMO, and I am sure you will be too :D

NOW ALL WE NEED ARE SOME FREAKING DYE TUBS, DAMN YOU BLIZZARD!! :)

Thats the biggest load of crap I have ever read about Guildwars, guidlwars exeeds WoW in every departement you mentioned. And second if you're looking for an mmorpg don't buy GW, it's not a mmorpg it's a cmorpg.

No. What you said is really the biggest load of crap.

I've heard lots of times GW has no customization as far as armour is concerned and it has weak gameplay but good pvp. Probably not as good as WoW has because WoW will be a hell of alot more populated on any one server than GW will be, unless the GW team have money-tree's to keep servers on the same levels as WoW's online.

I say get WoW. I played in the WoW European beta and it was the best MMORPG i've played. Other MMORPGs i've played are Neocron, Anarchy Online, Asheron's Call 2 and plently more that I can't remember.

I tried the EQ2 Trial of the Isle that you can download from Fileplanet, but I really didn't like it at all.

Even visually I'd say WoW was better. EQ may have the higher res textures, but WoW has the style, and the characters don't look like they've been exported straight from Poser.

it was based on my experiences with it, as I said to him, try it first.
I thought it was going to be sexcellent, and was let down.

Have you even played WoW? then again it's a matter of preference.

notice that I said "I found" (indicating it was my opinion)
I am glad you enjoy it however, to each his own. (and he can make his own mind up about that)

Stardog you played Neocron? Cool! Me to, for 2 years none stop, had 2 accounts of capped characters on Uranus (later known as Terra in NC2 when Saturn/Pluto/Uranus merged together). Did you play it for long and did you PvP much? I've yet to find another game throughout any genre that had PvP as good as NC. Me character with best rank was my PPU (healer for those who don't know) who was 94/69 *** in the end. Although he had'nt capped intel, it took to long, got him to INT 98 after 2 years and give up.

You have no idea what the hell you are talking about, like I said GW isn't even a mmorpg, it does have better graphics then WoW artwise and techincally, it has way better gameply then WoW, WoW is 90% kill this animal and bring x many things form it, or bring this to that. And it's sopund is exxelent, it has almost no lag, it's net code is AAA+ ,And reading your post you obviously have never played GW but only heard it, so play it first before you judge you.

And you're reasoning makes no sense at all, WoW has better gameplay cause there is going to be more people on any WoW server then on any gw, first of all that is not true, GW will have only one big ****ing server, so there is no way any WoW server will have thet much people, and second what the hell does that have to do with teh quality of the gameplay. Did it ever occur to you that WoW is and will be more polpular because blizzard advertizes more, has more brandrecognition, wtf has gameply got to do with it.

Yeah I have played WoW, but for the rest you're right. It's just our own opinion.

It is like MMORPGs for nubs, it is pretty simple and just about everyone in the game in a complete retard, or an asshole. I love the game though and I am having tons of fun with it, my guild is full of awesome people and not one of them is incompotent or an asshole. If you group with random people though expect the warrior to steal the Robes of Arugal. It gets trickier in instances, but morons can still make it to high levels without doing instances or any elite(group oriented) mobs.

How do you mean for nubs, I don't understand why wow would be for nubs.

thx guys...think im all go for WoW, sounds like fun :bounce: :bounce:

Ah yes...UO what happy days, happy days....

me and 3 friends played UO in a netcafe.

10 min into the game... a guy on horse with armour and all....

he says... have you guys seen any pk´s around?
We say....pk, whats a pk?
1 min later...4 dead guys.....and damn i was hooked :D

IMO it really depends on your roleplay style. If you are willing to dedicate yourself to an extremely in depth mmorpg with complex character development and some of the deepest tradeskills ever seen in an mmorpg then EQ2 is your bag of chips. For a casual play/get better gear/level up/party and have fun kind of game go for WoW.

Another plus for WoW: the missus might even like it herself. My longhaired one isn't into videogames at all, but this one she actually liked and played.

I didn't play EQ2 but I am playing WoW. I love it.

well my long haired is badly hooked on CivIII and Rome total war. That got some of my time covered. But i love to play at night, just me in the room, coke, ciggs and raids.
She freaks out when it becomes 3D, so no chance there.

Anyone can get into WoW. Hell, Sulkdodd's little brother is allready great at it, plus they're on 56k. I'm sure your "long haired" ones could get into it very easily ;) Don't make the mistake that it's for "nubs" though, as the gameplay is the best I've played in an online game, because blizzard do a fabulous job of blending variation into the quests. At first the quests are like greyfox described- rather simple and straightforward. But as you get higher and higher through the ranks you start being placed in wonderfully complex situations, with tons of vibrant quests and challenging enemies.

One of the great things about WoW is that you can explore. Unlike other MMOs ( Star wars galaxies, EQ2, Guild wars etc.) The enviroments are good, but not necesserally immersing. Especially with SOE's games, you go from one point to another, with all the enviroments being bland and repetetive, with nothing decent to interact with. WoW, however, has detailed landscapes that vary enourmously and each hold their own feel and characteristics. You can ride on an air transport from the barren wastes of horde territory to the sickeningly murky forests of tristifal glades- or speed along on the tram between the huge, towering halls of Ironfoge to the bustling streets of Stormwind. You see WoW isn't "generic dungeon 01" followed by "generic quest giver 054"... WoW Is a crafted enviroment that is so detailed; that you would swear it lived and breathed like you.

I did not like WOW that much.. I had a 10 day trial
not the game for me

I own both, but play Wow alot more then EQ2, but thats mainly cus EQ2 runs like shit on my comp.

There are a few things that bother me about WoW

Balance- Blizzard just seems to suck at it, In the next patch they are making one of the weakest classes in the game (Warlock) even weaker and making the strongest class (Shaman). Also they keep giving free crap to Paladins (Soon level 60 epic mounts) to paladins yet giving warriors, a more gear depended gold needing class, price increases for there skills.

GM's- They suck, if you have a real problem, they'll ignore you. But they won't hesitata to ban you without warning for having a name that is RPish enough, or selling things for too high, or having too much gold.

>WoW< get it I hate paying for stuff but those pre paid Cards are a pretty good solution
btw best Game ever together wiith Gothic2 and Hl2

Buyer Beware: WoW is like a new, more potent version of crack cocaine. It will get you hooked.

With that said, you can play for an hour and get something done. In the early levels you can level within an hour. It makes the game that much more exciting. WoW seems like the perfect game to get your significant other attracted to because it is such a deep game but Blizzard makes it so simple to grasp.

PS - I haven't played EQ2, but from what I hear the gameplay is like the graphics. Technically impressive but lacking in creativity and soul.

56 pally on bleeding hollow =-)

names dakan whisper me and ill give you a gold

I'm loving WoW, only played the Planetside beta before, it's really an immersive world, alive too, where you really look forward to seeing the next area. So varied too, from jungles to swamps to vulcanic mountains (really impressive to fly from Stormwind to Ironforge) and it's really addiciting to continously improve your character.

It's easy for everyone to get into, but without being shallow.

Gonna mine for ore in the Barrens now (I'm Dwarf) :D

PvtRyan, just be carefull about flying, dont want to fall off and get raped by level 58 dragons

x.x

My view of EQ is good, its epic, theres very big places to go to, the gfx are wonderfull. You get your own house which is pretty cool for role players. But Its just not got "It" whatever "It" is, Wow has "it" and EQ does'nt, makes WoW stand out more for me.

well, i just got WoW last night and what can i say? me and my girlfreind are already both ddicted to the game. its a kickass game and from what ive heard people say, its much better than eq2. look for me! McArthur on Medhiv

MMORPGs are evil and get old fast, but maybe that's just cause don;t have like 5 hours every day to spend on them, and they really drain the wallet

I haven't bought another Computer Game since WoW. If I didn't buy WoW I would have bought atleast one other computer game (since WoW's release). The price of buying a computer game is the price of a 3 month subscription to WoW.

Not a drain on the wallet. ;)

Does your wallet consist of $15?
