I think I need some pain killers. I have WoW, but I can't play it on official servers, why? Because I know better than to ask my parents to pay for me. I was in a clan once, it was called neX, and my friend needed me to pay 10 bucks a month so we could all pitch in for a server, and I said I'd ask my parents. When I proposed it the best way possible, even saying "it's only 10 bucks a month, chump change!", they made crazy faces and told me it was a helluva lot of money and I shouldn't be allowed to throw it away like that. Makes perfect sense really, but it really is just the beginning. I sometimes get into arguements with my parents about games and they of course think they make one more dumb or more violent, even being as stubborn as refusing to hear any proof, and instead mocking me for even bringing something like that up. They honestly think games are made by the government to stupify the youth population so that we cannot tell the difference between a good government or a bad one, or just not care. True? Absolutely not. One more problem with this is that they don't respect me enough to listen to my arguement. Basicly, I can't do jack shit while in my parents "custody" as dis-respectful or mean as it does sound, it is true. They bind me to the floor with a chain because of pure ignorance and stubborness. And so, here I am staring at the screen of the menu of WoW (which I spent 3 months saving up for and making a plan to buy it without my parents noticing btw), drooling away as the two stone guards stand infront of an amazing portal into the World of Warcraft, while not being able to walk through it. And I can't do a ****ing thing about it.

P.S. Yeah I know that 3 months is a ton of time to make 60 bucks but I'm unable to get a job since I don't have a car (nor a licence), the city is atleast 40 minutes drive away, I have school, and any buses that go my way come every two hours and they stop coming at 6, so no luck.

A) Get a job

B) Stop whining, it isn't your money

C) WoW rots your brain (no offense to anyone who plays)

Stop whining? Trust me, I've been holding back for about half a year now.

Well, your 14. That means you are legally eligible to work somewhere, if you want it that bad. I'm sure your parents wouldn't mind much, then, since it's your own money. Also, if you get allowance (lucky bitch), you could get a game card. Just go to the store to "get a game," buy it and then put the card in your pocket and say they were out of "that game."

All in all, there's always a way around it, you just have to be sneeky.

No chance in getting a job if you read the edit I made to the first post, and they don't care if it's my money or theirs (as I stated by telling you I had to sneak buying the game in the first place).

Then don't make a thread, whining, subliminally asking for ideas only to shoot them down just as quick.

Sorry, but all I read was "blah blah blah my parents won't buy me this.. blah blah blah. " I know you're only asking them for $10 a month, but if it's not that much, I'm sure you could find ways to come up with it yourself. Nobody's parents are perfect, and you just have to live with it.

Wow..

go outside and play street hockey or something

Yeah, I know I sound like any other kid bitching about something, but it's different when your the guy with the problem. And it's $20 a month, but yeah I guess it's possible I can make up the money myself, but that would take a lot of work, A LOT OF WORK, and some illegal stuff going on (not robbing a bank). :S

do your parents wear tin foil hats ?

if you really want to play wow badly, you could try a private server [read: www.wowstatus.net] but you may have to put up with bigs, lag and not many people on some of the servers.

If it really means that much to you, you need to take action and not bitch. Illegal, lots of work, or whatnot, if you really care that much.

I know about that crap, waiting in line for a spot on ABC WoW. Shoot my thread down, do you really think the point is to find out how I could find money to play it? I can pull lots of things out of my ass. I just wanted to get rid of the thought.

Lol! I would go outside if it weren't raining all week long. Or if there was a neighbour within 2 kilometers of my property.

I don't wish to shoot your thread down, I was just offering my opinion. What is your point in this thread? What thought do you want to rid yourself of?

thats why I dont get into those MMORPGS..

1) they're massive timesinks

2) they're really expensive.. 15 dollars a month? I remember a time when it used to be 10 dollars a month or less.

3) they cause more problems with parents than anything..when I still played everquest 1 a long time ago I got in so many arguments over it. Then I eventually found the strength to quit and now I can put those old days of camping a spawn for 2 hours to get an item (some people wait up to 6-8 hours) behind me.

Lawl, yeah I'll just finger one of the greatest games of all time and walk off.

Dude... if you can't get $20 from your parents, you've either led a horribly planned life or don't understand the basics of strategy.

I was lucky enough to unwittingly prepare myself for such things. You don't need money to make money, you need to control those with it. Be patient... if you can't be patient, then you need to learn to control that first before anything else. Be the good kid for a few weeks, love and adore your mother, get good grades, do homework in front of your mom, write a poorly written paragraph why you want to play video games, give her corny birthday / mother's day presents, take our the trash, offer to wash her car.

It sucks but it's worth it, and knowing you can be patient enough to get it is almost a reward in of itself.

Yeah, I used to be into Everquest, but just got so sick of it that I quit. I don't plan on playing any more MMORPGs.

World of Warcraft is an awesome game, but I've got plans other than doing MC or Ony.

Oh what grand plans I scheme!

Are you kidding me? They work me all day anyways! Last week my dad told me to rake the 1 acre of grass behind my house of all it's leaves. That made me ROFL really hard, and then I found out he was serious.

You're joking, right?
Yesh, but I was feeling depressed. Talking about it helps atleast.

10 Bucks a month is a ton of money.

I worked manual labor for a full year, and I can tell you, you're just too immature at this stage to really appreciate money.

Case in point.

I worked my ass off, too, during the summer (quit during the school year). That's when you appreciate money.

Doesn't sound that bad. Some kids are working 7 days a week.

I know this may sound cheesy, but just remember that happiness is relative. You're as happy as you want to be.

Lawl wtf? As soon as I get a car I can apply for a job at my local swimming pool as a life guard since I'm qualified. I'll be making $15 an hour at first. ROFL!!!1 10 bucks, omglawlbbq.

If I wanted to be happy, what's the point in being mad?

Hmm, it seems strange to be depressed over not getting something to that degree. You do know what's going to happen, right? You're going to finally get the money somehow and then you're going to play it non-stop until you reach, basically, "the end." Then you'll be like ... damn, what a waste.

Most untrue thing ever. I'm still playing Half-life. You know what the hell I had to go through to get it? And I was only 9.

Stop with the jargonage!

Are you the same person as Q_onfused?

But yeah, Mellon, are you and your family rich?

1 Acre of grass behind the house.

120 dollars being "chump change".

Forgetting about taxes that will rape you of your work money.

Have you played a MMORPG before? Doesn't seem like you have. This is what happens, bud. The MMO gets boring, repetitive, and just plain boring. After awhile, it seems like a job.

Yes, Sinko, heh... a person with 2000 posts just doesn't "poof" into existence.

Just suck it up, man. Even if you were given a lot more, you'd probably find other things to complain about. It's all in your perspective.

10 bucks. Yeah, I guess you would say I'm pretty well off and I thank my parents for that boost in starting position. I can just work my ass off to get what I want/need (hint) and hope all goes well so I can make them proud of me, instead of messing up what they did.

Yes, I have actually. Anarchy Online, Guild Wars (semi MMO), and other little games.
And I can play them 'till death I love 'em so much.

Ooops, sorry for double post.

Then why do you so desperately need WoW?

Nevermind, got pwnt by the edit.
On second thought, it still applies: why do you need WoW if Guild Wars, etc. fills your MMO need?

They sound crazy. Why are they so crazy? Do they wear tin-foil hats?

Oh noes you can't play WoW you poor person. I can’t play any non-web browser online games because of my slow connection, yes I have played them before and probably had just as much fun as you have with them, I'm the same age as you yet you don't see me winging and crying over it.

Go surf or something. It's different when your parents despise everything you do without good reason.
