Xbox360 slim

Built in wifi. I'm going to stab everything.

ooo shiny

THIS apart from rising was the ONLY surprising part and that’s sad.

I am immensely jealous of everyone in the audience getting a 360 for free cos right now i am EMBARASSED to have actually bought one.

PS: How much money wise is that they’re giving away?!?! O_O
PPS: HOW ON EARTH WAS THIS NOT LEAKED!!??
PPPS: this is clearly a bribe cos of how **** they're conference was, this way journos wont call it worst e3 ever and all that

I still dont know why they REFUSE to upgrade the hardware. Im taking they wont do an upgrade for atleast another 3 years. Games in 2013 built to the standard of 2005 technology. Am i the only one who sees something wrong with this picture? I dont understand the reasoning behind this :/ Thats like using Doom 1 technology in 1998 (around half-life release).
Stop buying consoles, duh!

You're holding technology back. You did it. I told you.

OT, I like the new one a lot better now. Not that I'd ever own one of these devil machines.

If I were going to get the xbox ever, it would be now with the slim. Mainly because of the wireless. I know that sounds like a pretty dumb reasoning, but if I'm paying, what, 10 bucks or something a month to play games online, then I better not have to spend 100 bucks on a wireless adapter.

Buy consoles? ME??? Im a PC gamer, i would NEVER buy a console. I feel insulted that you would even think i would own a console, i demand an apology NOW! I hate consoles as much as you do, trust me.

Because everyone loved upgrading their computer every 2 years. Seriously, let's bring that back. >_>

Forgive me, great elite one. I'm just swinging randomly now. They're all over!

So, instead buy 3 consoles?

Don't buy a pre-built computer and it won't suck.

Actually, the new xbox was leaked yesterday. There was an advertisement for the console yesterday on some website. Check first post.

Edit: I was surprised everyone at E3 gasped the way they did. Thought everyone would have heard about it right before the day of E3.

sorry what i meant was that I was amazed that the release date of next week wasn't leaked yet, sorry :p

That thing must already be on some store shelves and yet that we didnt know that i find amazing, especially when ps3 slim was leaked months before its release

I never understood this argument. A console is nothing more than a limited function, non-upgradeable computer. So if you buy a good PC when the console releases, and then never upgrade or buy a new one, you're getting the same thing as the console, but in the shape of a much less limited PC. The only reason you'd need to upgrade is if you want the better tech that the console doesn't get. You don't HAVE to upgrade every 2 years, thats only for people who want their games looking better than the console counterparts.

sigh i am SSOOOO pissed i decided to get a 360 last month and didnt just wait :(

then again if i waited i might not have got one after that =/
hell i’m partly regretting it now -_-

Hey, my 360 just broke. Wifi might just make this worth it. Maybe. Probably not. Since there are a total of two or three games I'd want.

Wonder what the price point will be.

Yeah, the new xbox doesn't cost more than a current elite console. And it'll be out by the end of the week.

Who cares. How about some major improvements to Games For Windows Live (GFWL).

Probably will never happen. I wish they would bring some of their XBox 360 "exclusives" to the PC (such as Gears of War 2 and 3), but they will never do that. For all their talk on supporting the PC, it's an afterthought for them.

I figured that Microsoft would release a slim version of the 360 sooner or later, but I didn't think it would take them this long.

Every 6-7 years (looking at this gen). ****ing bargain ;)
I don't think so. My PC is equal parts work machine/media center/game system, and because I make a living from my computer, my PC 'paid for itself' in a few hours.

I think what really killed consoles for me was when they stopped making the Dreamcast. What do I do with my huge game library when it's gone?

Well, they do offer updates from time to time, but yes, I share the same dismay at the fact that Microsoft published games are not coming to the PC. But it's no matter, I'll play something else. I always get bored of the disposable console games anyway.

Except computers haven't always conformed to console's graphic standards. Talkin' about the past, man.

My point was that as consoles are so cheap and each offer years and years of gaming, why not? As I spend most of my time working these days any free time is precious, and of that only a portion is left over for video games. I like to fill that time with the best games going, which means all platforms.

As for the Dreamcast, the games still work, no? Treasure them!

Sloppily ported software isnt a fault of the system.

Also, considering the xbox 360 has an average lifespan of less than five years, I'd hardly consider it logical to spend that kind of money to rebuy old hardware every 5 years instead of upgrading to new hardware in that same timespan.

...

I mean games that were developed primarily for PC, without console restraints in mind.

THE PAST, MAN.

The past, as in a couple years before the 360 came out? Thats so long ago that its irrelevant to our argument. There have only been a relatively small handful of games designed that way since the 360 was released.

if my 360 goes Red Ring I may get the slim but for now I'm happy. Its from 2005 and got repaired once

Mine is from 2008 and it RR'd once. Now it's having startup issues. I have to start it up multiple times for the game to show on the tv. That gives me a reason to get the new xbox, but i've really been stuck on pc gaming. Hell, I just ordered a new psu and graphics card. Not entirely sure I want to stay with xbox or spend money on another one atleast.

I love gamers and their logic. "Their last product failed on me in a short period. Guess I'll buy their next one!"

Kids these days. Why, back when I was young, when some company made a shitty product, you never bought from them again. Even IF they made it look stupid and put in some superficial feature! Nosiree! Not even that kind of progress could make us buy it!

Arcade and Elite models get $50 price reduction and are discontinued.

Old "Arcade" model now only $150.
Microsoft is currently working on a second new [slim] Xbox 360, which will be offered at the arcade's price point of $200.

Systems will no longer be named "arcade", "elite", etc., they will be named by hard drive capacity....

...therefore the logical conclusion is that all models may have a hard drive.

Also, there seems to be some confusion since the new slim 360 has a Kinect port... will the Kinect be compatible with older systems?

Kinect is compatible with all systems. It comes with some adapter thingy for the older ones.

Ugh... Why do they use that damn piano finish. It's damn annoying on the PS3. Sure it looks some what nice but if you don't clean the damn console every half an hour it will be covered in dust. Still tempted to buy the slim version just for the wireless, maybe I could stick it to a closet so no one could see how ugly it is.

Better picture

It looks so Alienware-ish. The bevel on the top and bottom, and also the power button look sexy as **** though.

If i'm not mistaken, the guys from alienware designed the original xbox360.

Step 1 in making the 360 more appealing to the family/casual market: excessively aggressive case design.

Probably this one too then, from the looks of it.

Well, overall, I really like it. But I can't stop picturing the Alienware logo on it.

I actually saw it on the case, but it was just my mind filling in blanks on the edge of my focal point.

this does look like the best looking console aesthetically but what SKU number is this Xbox like, 15?? geez!

I heard somewhere this thing has a built in HDD. Hopefully they include a transfer cable or something.

It correlates nicely with Apples increased consumer base, not that I'm implying anything.

Nope. It has a small proprietary HDD that can be easily removed. It's pretty dang small.

So the original HDD won't fit? :O

I think it is seriously fugly.

Looks like they hired someone from Alienware to design the box.

I dont know why theyve done it.

Everyone has already bought a wireless reciever if they wanted wireless, and if not they will still use a LAN cable.

Nice HDD size, but thats replaceable on the old one which has already been done by many.

Ugly case is ugly.

Its like the PS3 slim I guess, but they havent changed the price. PS3 slim made sense, you can get more people to buy it that couldnt afford the original.

But why buy this one if you have a maxed-out 360?
