XSI slows down

How come XSI EXP slows down the more i add to it.

Eg it take ages when i add a vertex after the 12th one

Please explain.

It does run slow a bit sometimes on my PC. I would think it would either be because of a slow computer, or mabye a fragmented HDD. Try defragmenting/cleaning up your hard drive. What are your PC's specs? Mine runs fine most of the time, but does lag sometimes. Here are my specs:

2.8 P4
1gb ddr266 ram
ati aiw 9700 pro

on the right side of ur screen (where all the buttons are) select ur model and click on the "freeze" button. This will freeze all construction history (do this often). Construction history is a recording of every single modifier u did to the model. This includes movement, scaling and rotation. If you press on the "selection" button or look in the options of the object in the explorer, you will see a whole bunch of modifiers there. They cause this slowdown, because you can always modify them after creation. Say u have an extrusion modifier, then u bevel the model. U can always go back and modify the extrusion if u dont freeze the construction history.

Also when tweaking vertexes it's often prudent to turn on immediate mode so that it doesn't record your million little transforms.

That's correct.
XSI's Immediate Mode means that all operators (deformers) you add on the mesh will not be retained on the operator stack. This is particularly useful when you move points around (using the M key for instance). There is little point in keeping all these Move Point operators on your stack.
