Yah for Airsoft Extreme

wow mr. red, I haven't seen you recently, where've you been?

working, dating, catching up with my brother in law and my sister and their new born son.

havent had the taste for computers of late.

aye, I see you haven't posted in off topic in ages. I see your IFG avatar has changed too :(

oh well.
/me gives mistahred a cookie and an airsoft gun

tell your sister and her husband a man with identity problems congratulates them on procreation!

What is airsoft exactly? Is it a regular BB gun, or what? All the kids nowadays seem to be into this kooky new "airsoft" thing.

i was going to ask the exact same question little b... so, what is it?

Airsoft guns fire 6mm plastic pellets, not regular BBs. They are (generally) 1:1 scale replicas of real firearms that use either "gas" (sort of like compressed air), a spring cocking mechanism, or electricity to drive a piston to propel a BB at muzzle velocities ranging anywhere from 30 FPS (feet per second) to 500 FPS. I am actually saddened that so many kids are getting into the sport. The chance of a lawsuit being brought against manufacturers and retailers increases dramatically when kids get into it (I'm not saying all kids aren't responsible, but a lot of them aren't.) They look realistic enough that one of them is probably going to end up getting themselves shot by police officers (which is bad for the kid, the parents, the police officers, and anyone interested in airsoft) and that will put airsoft in a lot of danger :(

You can even get 6mm paintballs that are designed for use in airsoft guns. The red ones are fun.

I wouldnt suggest using 6mm paintballs in an airsoft gun.. unless its a $30 springer.
theres a chance they can jam in the barrel or load incorrectly, thus ruining your $200 Gas pistol or $400 Electric Rifle.

Im 22, I play with 8 other guys around my age..
I found out about airsoft from Snowball.. he showed of his Glock19, and I thought it looked fantastic, so much so that I was curious what airsoft was, and how it was played.
I then found out about Airsoft Extreme, by looking into local retailers, went down with my best friend and we both took a chance on buying a couple of $120 glock 19's (brilliant guns, I highly recommend them)
we just kept meeting people who were interested and telling them about the games, showing them our guns... etc it is a blast.

Airsoft isnt your average bb/pellet gun, as Frosty said, you play using replicas that are 1:1 ratio with their real-steel conterparts... they carry the same amount of rounds in each mag, fire at around the same RPMs, etc etc.

its not like Paintball, kids are getting into it (unfortunately as Frosty said), you find that most players (if you go to airsoft events etc) are around 20-40 years old, most have real-life military experience or work as Police or Swat etc.
the games are very realistic, they are called "wargaming" or "Milsim" (military simulation) its not your average buncha teens with paintball guns running around screaming at the top of their lungs.

I highly recommend the games to anyone with steady cash flow (its expensive to get guns, BDUs, Slings and tactical vests, mask and helmet, etc etc)
if you just intend on plinking around in the backyard with some friends all you need is a couple pistols, but for real Airsofting you need to attend an event, and they require that you have all your equipment.

the game is played on honor, if you have no honor.. or play to "have the highest frags" dont bother with Airsoft, you will get booted and banned from events so fast your head will spin.

I could keep discussing it, but I gotta run, catchya later.

Heh, we could start a Glock 19 club because I have a KWA Glock 19 as well.

I myself own a Tokyo Mauri M4A1, and a store bought spring (Full Metal tho) USP.

Pfft, Paintball > Airsoft ;)

Nah, I want to get into airsoft but I can't afford it because of paintball. :( It looks awesome fun though, as long as people you play against don't cheat. It's a shame that more people are getting into it, since cheating will be a lot more common now. I know it is in paintballing, and it's an awful feeling knowing the winners of a tournament only won because they wipe.

maybe later, probably later since I want a new wallpaper ;D

Alright I just bought an airsoft gun on some website for $3.50.. Not a bad price to start with so I'll give it a try and if I like it I'll PM some of you maybe or so :)

Haha, yeah, I've got a Glock 19 too, but made by KSC. I want to get a slide that looks like stainless steel, but haven't found out where I can get one.

A NOTE FOR PPL WANTING TO BUY AIRSOFT ONLINE

Airsoft guns are ridiculously hard to get in Canada. They're considered replica firearms, and therefore are prohibited items. They are always siezed by Canada Customs, and you cannot import them without a license to import firearms. (It's been a while, so I might be not 100% accurate, but that's about right.)

Falcon, there are some polished Caspian Glock slides available, like this one.

Hope that helps :)

KWA and KSC develope the same guns, only difference is the location where they are produced... and one comes with trigger safety removed (KWA).. at least to my knowledge and what I have been told. (correct me if Im wrong)

as for a stainless steel slide, good luck on getting one that doesnt look cheesy (I dont like the caspian slides or even the G&Gs since they have fitting issues)

you should do what my friend did to his glock19, he just sanded the slide down, for a two-tone look.

read up on This review for some polishing instructions.

My KWA has the trigger safety, actually. It's just some online providers sell it with it removed, for some reason.

well I buy all my stuff from "Airsoft Extreme" (www.airsoftextreme.com) aka AEX. the customer service is impeccable.. really these guys are awesome. They have to sell the guns with orange paint/orange tips by California law and although that kinda bothers me (I prefer them without) and the fact they are a 3 hour drive away from me in Santa Clara (3 hours there 3 hours back) its still worth it, for the service, free repairs and walking out the store with the gun in your hands the day you pay for it :)

I have thought about ordering offline.. to get the more authentic looking slides and stuff.. but honestly I prefer supporting my local community AEX more-so.

Well i have 2 springers, ones a crappy $50 hfc mp5, and my other one is a preatty nice a-15 panther. One thing I want to know about the Electric Rifles at the AEX site, do they come with the battery or do you have to get it seperatly?

the battery is seperate, however if you click on "Starter Packages " those all come with the things listed
(charger/recharger, batteries, big bag of bbs, Hi-cap mag)

other guns listed elsewhere (not in the starter package page) can be packaged with the kit for about an extra $100.
just ask them for it.

What brand metal slide did he sand down? That looks surprisingly good

that was stock KSC I believe
I always wondered if it was KSC who made those nameless slides that retailers have, like this one. :p I'm tempted to pick one up and do the same thing to my 19 (well, the 19 I have coming. I sold the last one I had :))

hey, kickass thanks for the link, I think Im gonna order one for my Glock and do the same.. for 65 bucks why not? :)

I've just got a cheap $35 M9. So does my brother. But my other brother has a sweet Glock with that thing on the end like in Tomb Raider. And he also has this other M9, and an AWESOME Deagle! This thing is HUGE.

:)

Sadly, we don't really have any gear, would be fun to fight each other. :(

No problem

By the way, do you know if the Glock 19 is powerful enough to cycle metal slides without any hi-flow valve upgrades? If they are, I'm definately going to pick up one of those slides :)

I posted in the other airsoft thread about this, but I found some replacement slides here. Not a bad deal either at $56

wow I didnt see this, you rock my socks Frosty, MUCHO thanks :D

I live in the U.S., if I order 2 replacement g23f slides will they remove all the markings and paint the end orange?
kinda pointless ordering it in that case.

No problem Mr. Redundant

I believe that gun parts (such as slides) do not require orange markings and the trademarks to be removed. I would e-mail WGC and ask them first, just to make sure though :)
