Honestly, it is a bit on the shit side as far as the acting and fx go, but so are the Goonies, Flight of the Navigator, Last Star Fighter, Never Ending Story... hell, most kids/family movies from the 70's and 80's are "shit" if you compared them to todays standards. Blue screen and other fx looked like total crap back then, and the actors get on my nerves now when I re watch those movies. But at least they made original movies that stayed with the viewer for years and years.

Where did I say it was shit because of the FX? That has nothing to do with it. It's shit because of the horrible acting/voice acting, rubbish storyline and villain(s), and abyssmal script.

Get off your high horses, remove the nostalgia specs and develop some taste in film.
Short Circuit was balls compared to many otherother kids films of the era, ones I loved.
It isn't even in the same league as Willow, The Goonies, The Three Amigos, The Princess Bride, Labyrinth, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Watership Down or The Dark Crystal.

Child actors get some leeway with me. Short Circuit had a mainly adult cast though, they had no excuse.

When mentioned the Goonies, I was thinking more of Robert Davi and Joe Pantoliano as the Fratelli brothers than the kid actors lol

Short Circuit was doomed anyway since Steve Guttenburg stared But really, I think a lack of proper acting isn't to be blamed on the actors themselves, but the production team. Since it was supposed to be a family film, maybe they just didn't care so much? Just curious though, what's your thoughts on Scrooged? I love that movie as well, but most of the actors go waaay over the top.
