No, you know what is actually really nice...

Wearing socks all day, then when you get into bed, take them off, the bed is cold and your feet are warm. The bed isnt too cold to be annoying, but slightly soothing on your feet. It is really nice, try eet!

Assuming for one second that what he says is true - could I have known in advance? No. Are you expecting everyone to make allowances for every possible thing that one person could find personally and specifically offensive? Don't be absurd.
