Your Favourite Game Soundtracks

Mario world had fun music but it hasn't aged well for me. I can't pop on SNES amp and sit back to Mario World like I can everything else I listed. Mario 64 is by far the best mario music ever created. OoT is fantastic too though. Can't believe I didn't list it because sometimes I find myself whistling certain themes, the woods theme in particular.

I can't say I ever particularly cared for any of the Zelda soundtracks.

But as for Mario 64... The Bowser theme is epic win.

GTA: Vice City, HL/HL2 and Halo's orchestral score stand out.

Bowser battle theme or Bowser road? I prefer the road theme over the battle theme.

Super Mario Bros.

My favourite song in a game has to be Arnhem from Medal of Honor: Frontline. Such great placement, in a level that is possibly the most chaotic in the game comes this mournful track. Plenty of other great songs in that game as well.

Legend of Zelda and the Metroid Prime games have great scores. Tallon Overworld II, the battle with Metroid Prime, the song when saving Midna and Bongo Bongo's theme especially.

Half Life 2's soundtrack is good, if a little hit and miss.

The Resident Evil series to me has some nice songs, the credits of RE4 and a lot in RE0 are nicely atmospheric.

qft that song is beautiful, you get a real sense of desperation in the fighting in that level with the music...

C&C Tiberium Dawn and Red Alert

X-Com: UFO Defense

Civ4

Oh, and Heroes of Might and Magic 3

Katamari Damacy / We Love Katamari are the only game soundtracks / examples of Japanese music that I almost don't feel embarrsed to have on my PC. Almost. I love other soundtracks, but the Katamari games are actually credible outside of the game, in some way.

FF7, FF8, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Super Mario 64/RPG/World, Legend of Zelda OOT/TP, and Oblivion are among the best.

Hitman - Jesper Kyd

I love Jeremy Soule's stuff too, Dawn of War soundtrack :cheese:

Freedom Fighters has an awesome sound track, and i love Jesper Kyd's work.

Outlaws from Lucasarts

Some of the best music ever

Final Fantasy 7, Chrono Cross, Half-Life 2 *amazingly..*

Pretty much all the Zelda games N64 and onwards (8-bit music is cool but kind of shallow), Halo (NOT Halo 2, that soundtrack was shit with all the metal guitars), and BioShock.

Grim Fandango, Curse of Monkey Island, Shadow of the Collosus and some bits and pieces from the Halo and Half-Life games.

Honorable mention to Bioshock and God Of War games.

Edit: Hang on, i said most of this in this thread already.

Oh well. It still stands.

Trackmania Sunrise, HL2, 1080 Snowboarding for the N64, Tetrisphere for the N64.

Half Life series, Max Payne, Halo, Unreal Tournament 2k4, Command and Conquer Tiberian Dawn, and Doom 1 and 2
