Your Half-life 2 Gamespot score prediction

What do you all think Gamespot will score Half-Life 2? We all know Gamespot is one of the tougher game sites to review games. I know it seems quite trivial to be considering this but interesting to see peoples predictions and if they come true or not. Quite honestly I think they're pretty right most of the time. Not many games make it over the 9.0 score, but I think Half-Life 2 will have it in it. What do you think? I say Gamespot will give Half-Life 2 a final score of 9.3!

10.0 if it lives up the hype of what it can do (all the things in e3 videos unscripted). Otherwise <9. (im gonna get killed for that)

I am going to say a 9.5. That seems like a likely score, assuming the game is actually good. I NEVER assume anything. The game may be good, or it may suck. Time Will Tell.

GameSpot Score: 9.5

GAMEPLAY - 10
GRAPHICS - 10
SOUND - 10
VALUE - 10
TILT - 10

According to Gamespot:

10.0: "Perfect"
This exceedingly rare score refers to a game that is as perfect as a game can ever aspire to be. A game that receives this rating could not reasonably be improved upon in any meaningful way.

It's quite possible that Half-Life 2 could end up like this.

Just look at some other high-rated games (I know these are only two, and for the old N64, but it goes to show that it could happen).:cheese:

What did Half-Life 1 get from them?

Since HL2 is better, I guess you can add 1.0 to whatever HL1 got.

i find gamespot to be a bit ... eh. i trust other reviews MUCH more than gamespot's. actually i don't trust other reviews more, just ign's lol... to me they seem to be the most objective. but eh that's just me...

...just based on the videos and what not of the game, AND if it's at minimum living up to hl... i'd guess...... 9.6 (that's what they gave the gta3 and vice city games... or something like that ... so if they didn't get 9.6 then at LEAST what those games had)

This should answer your question

And the expansions:

And Counter-Strike for those who are interested:

We can't really know since we don't know what the final product is like, but I'm going to venture a 9.7 or higher. Why? First, the graphics and sound are going to be absolutely top-notch, no doubt. Further, I expect the gameplay to be amazing - they've been working on the game for the past four years, and what's more, they are still working on it for a few more months for polish, balance, gameplay additions, etc. Furthermore, I think that the multiplayer will be amazing - Valve has the talent and vision to back this up.

Good Lord!

We've nourished a viper in our bosom!

Off with his head I say!

Nah j/k :D

EDIT: Oh, my guess is 9.8

I don't find teh gh3ymspot ppl trustworthy enough: they gave Duke Nukem 3D only an 8.8...
=)

And they gave Hal-Life only 9.4!! No 10 for gameplay? Whatever.

I read at least 5 reviews to get an average opinion of the game.

Gameplay - 9.8
Graphics - 8.0
Sound - 9.5
Value - 10
Tilt -10

overall 9.4

that doesnt mean anything... the score each game gets is relative to the time it was out... if half-life2 comes out next year, it will receive less score that it would receive if it got out this year...

ahh reading that ocarina of time review gives me good memories...

too bad i don't trust any of gamespot's reviews of current games...their anti-xbox bias kinda pisses me off.

10.0?

How can anyone give a score of 100% to anything? that means that game can NEVER be bettered using that scoring system.

I would think around a 8.5-9.0 score

Im gonna rate it after the release plzkthxbye.

No, really, judging from what I've seen, I'd give it a 9-10 score. I'm not too sure what constitutes the whole .1-9 scale so I'll just stick with that.

Gamespot do give 10.0 to some console games just like Tony Hawk's skater3. I have no idea why.

Gamespot sucks, they give biased reviews and they're based on the opinion of one man. I mean if the reviewer has a bad day at work and he's pissed off then the game will get a bad review or something. So the gamespot scores don't mean anything. I mean they gave tony hawk 3 a 10.0. Sure it was a good game, but the gameplay was the same as the other 2 before it.

Hmmm... It seems that it is the same person (Jeff Gerstmann) who reviewed both Legend Of Zelda: Orcarina Of Time and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 is the only person at the site who gives a perfect "10".
Could this be a conspiracy or is it just ironic...or do I have no idea what I am talking about?

Maybe hes a very happy man and loves all good games.

My mistake. He's not the only one. Here is a list of all (4) games that have recieved a perfect "10" since the site started in 1996.

EDIT: under "Gamespot Score" select 10 and 10.

Didn't PC Gamer give Half Life 98% ?

Or it might have been an Australian magazine, PC PowerPlay that did.
Im not sure

If its 11/10 it must be more addictive than drugs.

dunno.

with every passing day HL2's features are less impressive since many other games are including them and actualy releasing on time.

HL2 could be utter sh*te and half of you would still say it ownz.

name one thats been released ontime that has the same features to the same apparant level

they gave Tony Hawk 10. that game was pretty good but after about a week that game sucked and had no replay value. Its above a 9, but no way a 10.

Half Life 2? probably a 10.

nope, that means that it is impossible to make a better game for the time we are speaking of.. hl2 will NOT have 100%, the proof it wont is doom3...

would be sort of sad if it turned out to be great graphics but horrible story and very glitchy and confusing.......u never know......but the multiplayer is where u will never go wrong!!....hehe
