to me, it sucks nuts big time. i have a classmate who's playing the EXACT version of HL2 that im playing. only difference is he didnt pay one f&&king cent for it and i had to pay $50 hard earned bucks. plus, he's using a crack that lets u play it without a steam account. this pisses me off how these pirates can get away with such g@y-a$$ things.

I convinced one to buy it :)

Or it had something to do with that his warez kept crashing :D

You can't stop stupidity, and it's pointless now to get angry at it. It's best just to ignore it. Let your friend rip VALVe off. [shrugs] Kick his ass at lunch, lol.

The best thing you can do is ask him for the crack, copy your HL2 folder to another HD and then enjoy the smoothest steam free HL2 experience you'll ever have.

Maybe that will cool you down.

Or delete one of the levels the next time your over at his house.

If he has a pc that can run hl2 i doubt his parents are poor.

Well he might be able to play HL2 but he wont be able to play any of the mods online :D

I don't get angry if someon warezes hl2, i just try and get them to buy it. no biggie.

Thats no excuse, thats like accepting people who are poor coming into a 5 star restaurant and then eating a 3 course meal that they cant pay for.

If you cant afford it then you save up or your dont do it at all.

If I would have known HL2 wasn't going to include a users manual I would have waited for a pirated copy as well.

Just wait.. A new patch for steam will come out sooner or later and he wount be able to play anymore.

Wow, its just a damn manual, nothing to do something completely illegal for.

From chris rock(from a movie)
"When I was a kid, my daddy caught me smokin and knocked me the hell out. To this day I don't smoke. Not because im afraid of cancer, but because im afraid my daddy is gonna walk through that door and knock me the hell out. Knock out your kids, it helps!"
So valve, knock out the piraters it helps. I can see it now, one day a pirater will say
"When I was a kid, Valve caught me pirating and knocked me the hell out. To this day I don't pirate. Not because im afraid of the law, but becuase im afraid Valve will walk through that door and knock me the hell out."

Good job valve! I hate people who pirate games.

1) Beat him up.
2) Send him a trojan, screw up the game.
3) Tell him the ending. As many spoilers as possible.

Even better; how about you make up an ending that sounds exciting?

Tell him after defeating Breen you take to the streets with the masses and you destroy the citadel freeing everyone in 17, where you reunite Alyx and dog; and then you are reminded that you only won the battle and not the war.

That way when he beats the game and sees the real ending which is 10 seconds of mumbling from gman, he'll be super pissed.

HAHHA mumbling from the Gman. so true. i mean wtf is he saying?? why is he so prophetic and mysterious. jeeze i'd like to shoot him in the face with my spas shotgun.

Sign him up to a tonne of porn spam emails. Follow around all the forums he vists abusing him. If you ever get to use his computer.. well, maybe consider deleting a few choice files ;)

Yeah, I'm sure a Steam patch will stop the warez versions which, by the way, don't require Steam. We all know how quickly Valve managed to kill the warez versions of CS:S, afterall.

I've convinced all my friends to buy it, and they will. One already did, my best friend is getting it soon. The others will, because they have to in order to work on our big-ass map for CS:S.

Alot of people that usually download games to "test" them out, have broken down and boughten this game. It's a good thing to see people who spent all there time getting the newest things before everyone else fall in with the crowd.

It's still very wrong to d/l and tell them this constantly, but it's an addiction.

i'm at my cousin's house and he mentioned that his friend tried to download it (the term he used, i had to clarify that he meant pirating it). then he said that his friend couldn't get it to work. I laughed inside. One more victory for Valve. I wish people would just pay for their games.

Another reason lots of people aren't d/ling it because of the insane amount of "fake" copies being sent.

I've heard even Valve sent a few "fake" copies of Hl2 to BitTorrent.

I had to buy this amazing game, just to support the developers. It is THE most best game I have ever played :imu:

Pirated copies is a no-no, for any game.

They will suffer in the future, as I doubt multiplayer games would work very well outside Steam.

But then again, there's like 20-30 singleplayer mods in production now.
