Youtube to give users cluster**** again

How do you share videos and links without the URL?

I think I might have missed the "Very important" part while watching the video.

Is there some news article I can look at, and not something that looks like photoshop?

How's that a bad thing? I actually prefer facebook's style: only "like" rating.

It wouldn't be, except for the fact that this removes the "averaging" aspect of the ratings. It used to be you'd have mostly 5 star, 1 star or 3 star. Now we won't have an in between, not an obvious one anyway.

So you can't link to them anymore?

Embed them?

Download them?

Well that makes the site nearly worthless for my purposes.

Who gives a **** what the rating is, tbh. If you have 10 different versions of the same thing, it's nice to locate the best one. Other than that, why the concern?

This, tbh. Guess I'll have to download everything I want before the change.

What? That video is stupid, even if they hide the URL for some reason, your browser still does an HTTP request for the Flash file, through.. a URL...

And a "like/dislike" rating system is superior to a 1-n system, because when people like something they vote 5 stars. If they hate it, they vote 1 star. It's pretty much binary already. Can you remember the last time you voted something as 3 stars?

I think it's long overdue for people to abandon youtube and find a better place.

News article please. I'm not getting my news from some loser on youtube.

Why would anyone believe that retard (the guy in the video)?

And if worst came to worst and Google decided to make the entire site from Flash (which will never happen) you could always use VirtualDub and capture the video.

Removing ratings would be good since they don't matter in the slightest.

Google are transfering yoiutube to htlmll5 anyway

youtubes quality has gone down the crapper over the years. i for one will and have sorta switched to alternatives and its the same thing if not better

No way is that going to happen, YouTube is way too established.

you haven't noticed slower video loads and complete stops while watching a youtube short video?? this happens to me frequently and its really annoying. before years ago everything would load instantly and it was nicer.

I like the new look.

If this is true, hopefully Vimeo gets the immigrants.

The original design, where you hit all videos and it made a new tab, was the best in my opinion. Why they now use the current version is beyond me, as it only seems to have hurt bandwidth and is a general pain in the ass.

I don't like it.

Also I'm an adept of the "if it's not broken don't fix it" mentality.

Precisely, and the removal of the 1-5 star rating system was miles better better than a simple thumbs up/down. And the fact that I'm not able to see the quality of the video before actually viewing it is also a disappointment.
