Well Zelda has been practically totally unveiled. Heres the scoop:

When an evil shadow stretches from the heart of Hyrule to its peaceful borderlands, a young farm boy named Link must awaken the hero ... and the animal ... within.

Features

•When Link travels to the darkened land of Hyrule, he transforms into a wolf and must scour the land with the help of a mysterious being named Midna.

•Ride into battle against troops of foul creatures, using an incredible horseback combat system, then take on massive bosses that must be seen to be believed.

•Many puzzles stand between Link and the fulfillment of his quest, so players must sharpen their wits as they hunt for weapons and items.

•Characters include Link, Zelda, Midna and many others, both new and old.

Link, a young man raised as a wrangler in a rural village, is ordered by the mayor to attend the Hyrule Summit. He sets off, oblivious to the dark fate that has descended upon the kingdom. When he enters the Twilight Realm that has covered Hyrule, he transforms into a wolf and is captured. A mysterious figure named Midna helps him break free, and with the aid of her magic, they set off to free the land from the shadows.

Link must explore the vast land of Hyrule and uncover the mystery behind its plunge into darkness. As he does, he’ll have to enlist the aid of friendly folk, solve puzzles and battle his way through dangerous dungeons. In the Twilight Realm, he’ll have to use his wolf abilities and Midna’s magic to bring light to the land.

Besides his trusty sword and shield, Link will use his bow and arrows, fight while on horseback and use a wealth of other items, both new and old.

My Thoughts:

You can probably already guess that I am excited for this game. In fact this is the game I am most excited about this year and perhaps for several years. The new Zelda is suppose to be about three times the size of Ocarina Of Time lasting about 70 hours. I was skeptical about how well the story would fit in and how well it would work but it seems to be working out awesomely. The intro sequence looks super fun and it's cool that you get the horse in the beginning of the game. In the cool battles and cutscenes they make Link look cool. Like one scene:

Your village is attacked and your best friend is kidnapped by this large green orc guy on a huge armored boar. Naturally you take you horse and leave the village to chase after him. Once your out in the field you catch up to him and a cutscene happends where he pulls out a huge horn and blows it calling in his reinforcements. About ten of his buddies start coming over the hill to chase after you. You have to fight them off. It seems like you can use any of your items while your on your horse. Including sword, bow, and even health potions. After your done getting the smaller guys off you chase after the big guy and start to attack him. He has the hostage tied to a huge poll on the back of his boar. After a few blows he gets really beat up and takes off to his main fortress, an abandoned castle ruins. You jump over the wooden gate with your horse which then flips to a cutscene of you jumping over the wooden gate and an archer on the castle wall shoots a fire arrow at the wooden gate entrance which blocks your escape. You realize it's showtime with the enemy. It's a joust to the death. After two hits the enemy falls over the edge of the bridge your on into oblivion. At this time the sun is beautifully setting in the background. It switches to a cutscene of him falling off his horse and then shows Links horse lift it's front legs and Link sticks his sword up into the air. It looks awesome!

I think the game looks super amazing and it looks to be the closest thing to Ocarina Of Time that we will probably ever get. The horse combat looks amazing and jousting looks friggin game. Since this is suppose to be the biggest Zelda game ever up to 3 times the size of Ocarina Of Time promising over 70 hours of gameplay this title should be a must have for any Zelda or Nintendo fan so make sure to buy it later this fall when it is released. Also look for a preorder deal as Nintendo will probably have a preorder special. If anyone here has any questions about The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess feel free to ask me.

Great thread man :) Thanks.

I can't wait for this game, it's the only reason I haven't sold my gamecube yet! :p

Even if it was released tomorrow the wait for this game would be excruciating. Bloody hell!

Remember the wait for OoT - that was pure evil. The HL2 delays felt like a breeze in comparison :)

*hopes TP will be as great as OoT*

I wasn't really a gamer when OOT was released (well, I was still into sonic the hedgehog), which was why I was overjoyed when I got the golden version of Wind Waker; which had a GameCube port of OOT. My god, I loved both those games- and I can't wait for this one ;(

That Eiji guy said that it would be around the same size as Ocarina of Time in one of the video interviews, not 3 times the size.

Who cares? OoT gave a good solid 40-50 hours of gameplay. If it is the speculated 70-80 hours, all the better :D

I think this is possibly my most anticipated game ever (yes, over HL2) and Christmas seems like such a long time away... I need to buy every single Zelda game I can lay my hands on and play them to death!

They also said the reason they are letting you have Epona right away if because the land scale is so huge they just didnt think it would be feasible to make you walk for half the game.. so even if actual play time is around the same the world scale must surely be bigger.

Maybe it's like the Wind Waker; epona is the equivalent of your boat.

My god, I'm making myself want to play it again, hehe :)

In fact, I will. I'm starting a new game of Zelda: WW.

Right... I have worked out that if I play: LttP, OoT, MM, WW, FS and MC I can fill the time wonderfully.

EDIT: And of course SSMB and SCII :D

I have a n64+cartridges that play them flawlessly, and my majora's mask cart is golden and hologramish :D

Fuzzy graphics vs sharp monitor :p

I have OOT and my N64, but they're in a seperate room from the PC and I'm too lazy to set it all up.

I might go play OOT or Majora's Mask, I have an emulator that plays them flawlessly
Could you perhaps point me in the direction of said flawless emulator? I also have my '64 and both Zeldas, but my controller joysticks are all completely borked.

Personally I thought the trailer looked really cack..

Burn the witch! I think it looks the best fantasy game we have had on any of the current gen consoles.

The last trailer, especially the bit with that thing riding the wolf looked woefully poor. Hopefully the gameplay will be more like what is shown in the first two official ones.

Just one question though, is this title for the game cube or this new revolution thingy?

For the GC.

Why did it look poor? Because you have been spoiled by the next gen? For the current gen, these graphics are really good. They are just what you want for this type of game.

No not the graphics, I don't ever remember commentin on the graphics.

The gameplay, specifically the wolf riding bit, looked rubbish.

With everyone bashing on about graphics it's an easy mistake to make I suppose.

I'm sure everyone (read: me) has dreamed of bounding around Hyrule attacking enemies as some sort of wild animal. I couldn't be happier at the news.

Yeah, all 20 seconds of it...
Seriously, how did it look that terrible?

Also, it looks from the trailer that the roll-around-an-enemy-about-to-attack move from Wind Waker is still in it

Because Link has turned into a wolf and is being ridden round by a cat, that's why I know that portion of the game play is crap.

End of.

Did you complain about the gameplay when Mario turned into a raccoon and learned to fly? I think more than half the current console owners today have played that.

Agreed. I want to play as link, I dont want to play as some weird thing riding link who just turned into a wolf.

Look Reginald, consoles to me are as bicycles to fish, ok?

I have only ever owned an N64, which I bought from a mate for £10. Of all the dross that it came with were Mario 64 and Zelda: OoT. Now this game reminds me of the gameplay I experienced with OoT, however that beginning portion of the third official vid simply screams kiddy console rubbish.

The rest looks promising, which is a lot coming from me.

In that case, don't complain :p

Sorry, I'm quite protective of the Zelda franchise. Won't hear a word against it.

So the only console game I'm ever interested in, the only one that could ever possibly tempt me into buying a shitty console, I shouldn't express my opinions about?

Okay....

OK, OK, sorry I spoke... :p

I think its a blend between WW and OoT really, the parts you don't like are the WW inspired parts, and I think generally these will be the least liked parts (a lot of people prefer OoT to WW, me included).
Just buy it for the OoT-like and the original parts.
Regardless, the entire game looks amazing, and unless somethings gone really badly wrong in the development team, I can't see them ****ing this up.

We turned into a wolf in WW did we now?
I meant graphically even though he meant gamplaywise, which kind of makes my post irrelevant. Anyway, impossible to judge gameplay from a video. A short one at that.

Ocarina of Time was mad pwnage, nothing but. I love that gameeeeee so freaking much and this looks hot, zelda is really the only console game I really care about.

So you're saying that some parts of Twilight Princess look graphically similar to Wind Waker?

If so, I can see where you're getting the impression. But to me, it seems that both WW and TP's visual styles are both derived from OOT's, rather than consecutive evolutions, each drawing on the evolutions of the previous iteration. Both of these OOT "sequels" seem to take OOT and greatly increase the overall detail, only WW took a more cartoony, anime-inspired route, and TP is taking a more Lord Of The Rings-esque "realistic" style, while still retaining a fair portion of OOT's quirkiness.

So many acronyms...

This helped me in my desicion to buy the Nintendo Revolution. Backwards compatibility is gonna rock!!!

The game looks awesome, and Im sure overall the story will be good. However I can tell Im going to be dispointed in certain things already. I dont like the idea of him transforming into a wolf, reminds me of animality of mortal kombat games. I just find it to be a bit rediculous seriously.

I liked OOT so much Im willing to look past most anything to play this though. Exept cartoony graphics (wind waker), which I think its safe to say this one will not.

It doesn't seem that rediculous when you consider that Link has already turned into a Deku Scrub, a Goron, a Zora, a Giant and the avatar of the fierce deity (or whatever in hell's name that was).

Agreed, it's silly to moan about him changing into a wolf when he's always changinginto things :) (plus i'm sure all the naysayers wil probably enjoy this aspect of the game once they get to it)

Don't forget a pink fluffy bunny! Although admittedly loads of people complained about that.

I'm sure they will make it work. The horseback battles look awesome! I can't wait to give them a try.

I always knew that wolf was Link. When the first in-game screenshot of the wolf came out i just said to my friend "That's Link". He resembles Link a bit, has earings too.

Can't wait for this game!
