how are you going to get supplies if you knock out the stairs ?, elevator controls are usually situated at the bottom of a building :S.

Buildings would`nt really be that safe in any case, sure you can hole up with supplies but you WILL run out, then you`re ****ed.

Plus there`s always the chance you could attract a few thousand walking corpses.
