It's September Carrots Day. It's a bit like April Fools except it seems to happen every month and it involves carrots instead of fools.

I believe, these recent carrot appearances are part of some sort of conspiracy theroy, something between the admins that us mortals will never know about (well obviosly Stern and Recoil will know)
