ok 1.6ghz radeon 9800pro 786mb ram i think this might be important though, when i restarted the computer came up with a diagnostic message saying at least vertex shader 1.1 and something else 1.1 are required to run. anyone know what could have caused this?

yes indeed there may be large time gaps, but the point is that from gordons eyes no time had passed at all to him. so as one experience altogether, it is gordons story from his viewpoint lived by us. I think if valve dont do join them up, it will undoubtedly (or hopefully) be done by the mod...

you should update the source licensed projects thingy, theres a whole load of info on "dark messiah of might and magic" by arkane studios including vids and screens etc. Might be interesting for people to see.........

in my onpinion the vehicle bits ruined hl2. the whole thing of hl1 on a rail was that u felt like a real person inside a train and u could duck, fire ur gun etc, jump off. in hl2 it felt like a driving sim.......

All people who've paid more than £100 or so for their video card should be able to play it. They may be calling their requirements "high" but judging from their survey, "high" is considered a pretty standard rig for most up to date technophiles. 9800 will most certainly run it, probably 9600...

I've finally found what i was trying to get at that makes hl1 better for me, its much more funny. Its very simple, but i find humour in a game is very important. Situations like the scientist's dangling on rope only to fall to their doom, or lifts full of them crashing to their death. scientists...

hmm maybe i am in a minority then? i felt a lot more for the hl1 characters than i did for the hl2 characters. I couldnt have given a toss if alyx or whoever died, but those screaming scientists.....so much fun. :devil:

Please vote on this topic, whether you feel valve were too precious about creating the perfect game as a sequel? I think the main thing that held hl2 back was how succesful hl1 was. Now we all know how hard it is to create a successful sequel, judging from the star wars double trilogy, matrix...

solution I think altering the heapsize can help this. For some strange reason in hl2 the default heapsize when u start the game is 64mb. Set it to half your system memory with the command -heapsize (number)000 In the launch options of hl2. You have to add 3 zeros to your heapsize in mb.
