You never mentioned what Watt PSU you are using, this might explain some of the issues, the 6800 GT requires at least a 300W, however I recomment a 400W+ for this card.

Aye, I've got two computers one with a nvidia one with ATI, they're bother overclocked by the max recommended on standard cooling (10%) and yeah I used coolbits with nvidia, just didn't like the drivers to be honest. It seemed to more hinder the preformace with the nvidia, although the ATI one...

I used the ATI ones they where fine, the Nvidia ones on the other hand, nah not my cup of tea, just didn't give me the preformance I wanted out of my card

Nope, because you don't have to copies, its rather odd that you can't LAN, I can play in a LAN game with the same account, I use it to test skins, its helpful because I can see what they look like 3rd person. If it doesn't work I guess you'll have to do without, and don't get an illegal...

If your mate has broadband why don't you bring your computer round and LAN up, share internet connection and then download it yourself?

Your only ment to select a file from the bin folder so it can cert the directory, it won't let you launch HL2 however from 3danalyze (I have the same card) just boot up HL2 normally, I didn't really notice a preformance boost, but anyway.

Oh and in regards to the thread, Steam uses a proportion of RAM, which explains the load times probably, and I doubt you can edit. If what you where saying is true, I could buy HL2, find a country (if one exsits) that doesn't have laws for electronic information, and make pirated copies of HL2...

That doesn't really make sense, maybe its just the examples you've used, so your saying that the law in Washington says your allowed to modify your IP, it doesn't just not mention not being allowed to change your IP, if you know what I mean.

Btw everything else is now on high and I get another 5fps, apart from filtering thats set to trisphonic(sp?). Its kinda erm.... weird.

I play with an athlon 64 3400+ 512mb of Ram and a Nvidia FX5500 256mb, and for some reason in CS source, if I run it without full aa I get around 60-80fps, but with 6x aa I get 80-100... Its rather.... weird... Shouldn't turning up your graphic settings make it run...erm... slower?
