Sounds like to me you shouldn't buy this game at all. It's no big deal. Just don't do it.
They don't "throw mud" exactly. When they melee attack you mud does sling on your face/screen thus obscuring your visibility. So it is in your best interest to kill those suckers before they are on you. But they crawl around on all fours so they are a bit harder to detect among the other common...

I wouldn't be surprised if the other infected are alternative versions of existing SI (smoker, boomer, ect). I am not saying that as a slight against Valve's imagination, I think they did such a good job with the original SI and the Charger solved the biggest weakness the existing SI had.

It took me by surprise. A sequel to L4D wasn't remotely on my mind. Like others I was expecting Portal 2 or EP3.
However- I welcome L4D2 with the amount of new content and changes that are coming since I had a lot of fun playing the first one.
In context of what I have read it isn't as cut and dry as you put it. I see 2 trade offs Valve has also added to 'balance' incendiary rounds.

LOL We can call it new content because that is exactly what it is. How can you not class this as new content? Because your mad @ Valve/L4D2 is not a logical answer.
It's perfectly fine for you to not care about this update but there are many that have complained about non-existant user created content the difficulty to get a proper user made game going in L4D. And this release is a perfectly good update to support that part of the community.
