I'd take the whole article with a pinch of salt but lets face it cs2 would be far quicker to make with a conversion to source than a whole new game. The design is already done. Just need to get the modelling, mapping and gfx done. Weapon profiles wouldn't take too long to tweak. Bare in mind the...
I'm the same dougy. I loved the sp of far cry. it lasted me 3 days and i was back on cs using a 5 year old engine the same as i have most days for the last 3 years. Sounds sad but no amount of ai or set pieces or scripting can compare to the varied gameplay the mp brings.
HL may have just been another run and gun with a good story but something about the balance, the mechanics and the control just clicked with it.
HL multiplayer and CS and dod etc all have a similar feel, the weapons respond right, the client prediction is good, the bullet reg and net code...
I asked them about remote server admin for the multiplayer server using source and wether nor not they would be integrating server admin tools into steam.
Seemed sensible to me since so many new games come out with no server admin built into the clients and steam_iD's would seem the ideal way...
I bought UK PC gamer, I think it was, and it does have a squad command icon down the bottom right on one screen shot. It shows a squad of one person on the screenshot. The article then goes on to say that you can give commands to a squad you are working with if you like but it is entirely...
You may want to remove this post as well and i'd like to point out that i have never been anywhere near the leaked code or the beta but I was a regular on these boards at the time of the leak and the morning the code was leaked somone posted screen grabs of the directory contents of the code to...
In the days of the spectrum and the amiga and early pc games screen shots were a very good way to show off the quality of a game's visual aspects.
Games have reached the state now where the objects and scenes on a game screen look good in most new games on a static picture. What makes a game...
Ok first of all can I just say i skipped the middle 3 pages of this thread, sorry if i'm going over old ground,
That hl2 pic looks like the scene that was used in the recent shading tutorial pdf released a couple of weeks ago on the ati site. Not sure if it's still there but the link I got it...
The installer contains the full 1.6. It pointed to previous versions on your drive get a CD key from your halflife install. Without halflife or an old copy of CS on his machine you'll need a valid cd key for counter-strike or halflife to play 1.6. Has he purchased the game?
I've said this before and i'll say it again.
Hacks gte made to bypass a security update within hours of the updates to vac or cheating death etc. The only way to rid games of hackers is to update the anti cheat software very often and detect hacks but then do not ban them, do not tell them...
Guinny you've made some good posts on this forum and I'm not going to argue with you but in my experience I was very much disappointed with DX:IW compared to what I hoped it would be having been a big fan of it's predecessor.
This isn't the DX forum so I'll try to keep things short.
There...
I bought DX:IW on release day from the US because the original was a work of genius.
Everything that was wrong with the PC version, the interface, the simplified skills and ammo, the low res textures, the horrific bloom effect etc were all as a result of the game being made as an X-box title...
No the worst case scenario is that hackers with access to the steam and HL2 source kidnap the steam servers and use the valve online gaming community as a mass bot machine source to take over the world........
