ok. yes, you can extract the files, and it will make the files. but they are all encrypted. I can extract "fire1.wav" for the crossbow onto my desktop, but if i try and play it, it says "invalid file type" because it is ENCRYPTED.

i haven't read all pages of this thread, but i was really under then impression that Gabe Newell and Doug Lombardi both said that you could play HL2 without an internet connection you just couldn't register your product, and you couldn't download updates. has this been confirmed otherwise?

i find that crouching with the m4 gives you some amazingly accurate first two shots. practice in an empty map, running crouching, and then shooting at a small target (like a leaflet on the wall in dust for example) unload half a clip, and try to see how your accuracy is. get a real feel...
