Adobe Illustrator is probably what you're looking for. Or any other type of vector drawing tool. That will allow you to create vector components of a character (hands, head, eyes, etc) and then easily move them around and reshape them. It's pretty much built for exactly what you want to do...
Pretty decent overall. I think you need to push your shadows a little more, they aren't dark enough, so it takes depth away from the piece. The character's legs also seem too short for the rest of his body. Study anatomy.
Not bad, plenty of motion in all of them. You still have some anatomy issues though, for instance the person in the second image has 5 fingers instead of 4 and a thumb. Try some more realistic figure sketching, it will help improve the anatomy in your anime characters.
I would also like aliens. But ninjas are cooler than aliens so if I had to pick one, I'd go with ninjas. Perhaps a happy medium could be reached in a game involving alien ninjas vs samurai pirates...in a modern day setting.:E
Do you have any clue how freakin' hard it is to come up with a gameplay mechanic that is both totally new and also fun? It's damn near impossible, and that's why you see so few mods (and games in general for that matter) which achieve it. It's far more feasable to take an existing mechanic...
When you say comic style, does that mean the game will be cell shaded, or what?
About the samurai thing. You can have modern samurai just like you can have modern ninjas. The easiest way to create believable fiction is to take something from reality and pass it through a filter that makes it...
You do realize that the "old" mods were new at some point too. Would you have been concerned with people joining Insurgency or Plan of Attack or any of the other popular mods when they were new?
If everybody thought it was a bad idea to join a new mod then no mods would ever get started...
Sounds interesting. Sort of a combo between Splinter Cell's multiplayer and XIII (but with no guns).
One thought though. If you want an authentic feel you shouldn't have ninjas being the good guys. Real ninjas were mercenaries and assassins. There wasn't much "good" about them. They...
There's always a risk that a mod will never be released, no matter how long it's been around. That's just the nature of amature development.
Teams that have been around for a long time usually have few roles that need to be filled. That's because they've filled the roles with people who took...
There's a 180 page manual for the editor that comes with the SDK. It has walkthroughs and everything. There's a lot of other doucmentation that comes with it for general engine information and other things.
Doing indoor areas in farcry is similar to doing them in Hammer or pretty much any FPS...
FarCry's tools are pretty freakin awsome actually. The map editor is all real time what you see is what you play. I mean, you can start a new map, paint on the terrain in the editor (it uses grayscale hieghtmaps), paint textures on the terrain, place objects on the terrain, and then go...
Programming is definately hard to get started with. It is litterally like learning a new language, so it can be very frustrating at first. Once you get the hang of it it can be quite rewarding. However, there are cases such as with large and complex systems where you might write code for...
I'm only trying to help here, so don't take this as an attack on you. It's just a little constructive critisism.
Why is it the perfect engine for your ideas and what's to make somebody believe that you can "take game design to a higher level"?
What is this idea? You need to give out some...
I'm not sure what your intentions are exactly, but if modding is all you want to do, maybe you should start on a game with easier to use tools. For all of Valve's talk about supporting the mod community, they sure haven't made much of an effort to make modding easier. The tools required for...
Generally it's a good idea to post an in-depth job description if you want people to take the time to apply for it. "help manage the network" doesn't cut it.
Honestly, if you're totally new to the modding scene you should probably try to get yourself on board with an established mod team rather than trying to start your own mod. Clearly you have no idea how much time, energy, and effort it takes to get a bunch of volunteers to work together to make...
